transfer chase sapphire points to oneworld/avios

i have about 120k in chase sapphire points and want to go to the kuala lumpur. malaysian airlines is the best option and i always fly business or first when i go international as i am 6'6" tall and coach is a no go for me. i have always used AA but recently moved from dallas to miami so AA has no flights on their reward chart to malaysia. i think 120k miles should be enough for business through a partner, aka oneworld which requires avios points. how exactly do i go about transferring those chase points to get the best flight? chase's website it's exactly simple to understand this process. i also have about 15,000 miles with aa i can use as well. i don't mind buying more miles. thanks for any insight.

You can certainly redeem AA miles for First Class travel from MIA to KUL. Here's one example:

If you want to use your Chase UR points, you may be able to convert them to BA Avios, and then transfer the Avios from BA to QR. QR flies MIA-DOH and DOH-KUL. If you can find award availability, QR indicates that MIA-DOH-KUL in Business Class would cost 95,000 QR Avios. (I'm not sure how high the carrier surcharges would be on such a redemption.) If this is of interest to you, I'd suggest carefully researching the ability to transfer BA Avios to QR, and double-checking the QR redemption rate. (QR just recently adopted Avios as its frequent-flyer "currency" in place of Qmiles.) FlyerTalkers in the QR forum might be able to provide some guidance.

I'm not sure what you mean by AA has no flights on their award chart because you moved to MIA. AA's award chart doesn't distinguish between starting cities in the lower 48.

I don't believe that you can transfer chase points directly to AA; BA might be a possibility. You may want to look at the Chase forum here on FT, here is one thread that might be helpful.

Yet another possibility is to transfer your Chase UR points to a Star Alliance carrier like Air Canada, if you can find Business Class award availability on Turkish for MIA-IST-KUL.

You seem to have a low understanding of how awards work. Time for more research. The rules/cost for awards can/does vary a lot between ffp's
Avios ff currency is now used by BA, IB, EI & QR. Subject to t&c's avios, but not status, can be moved between the airline freq flyer programs. Look at the BA & QR forums for more information.
An increasing number of airlines/aircraft/routes do not have (international) first class.
KL is not far from Singapore and easy to travel between those cities.

Thank you guys. This is already helpful. Yes, I must have a low understanding. I’ve traveled to Europe and Japan business or first with miles, but it was always super easy with AA. But that was when I was married and my ex and I had the AA card and she traveled a lot for work so we accumulated a ton of miles. Found the Chase Sapphire method is totally new to me. I’ll head over to those other forums and research the links you all sent and hopefully figure it out. Thanks again and if anyone has more advice please don’t hesitate to let me know.

also, fantastic mention on Singapore. I didn’t realize just how close they were.

Some ffp's. like AA, use zones for awards. Some ffp's, like BA, use distance for awards.
An increasing trend is to have low cost/saver/standard awards and dynamic awards. With dynamic awards the ff cost can be anything (low to extremely high)
Using ff miles on a partner airline can be different to using on your own airline. Need to check the fine details

A guide, but check the ffp details.Does not list all airlines --->https://www.awardhacker.com/#f=MIA&t...=0&c=j&s=1&p=1

great info. I’ll check and probably have questions. May be a week or so when I check back in. Also random but anyone been to KUL? Seems like an awesome spot for a single guy.

This is a really useful site https://www.travelcodex.com/award-maximizer/ it certainly doesn't cover every airline's frequent flyer program, but it does cover most of the transfer partners for Chase (UR), Amex (MR), Citi (TY), and Capital One (VR).

Unfortunately you'll quickly find that there aren't many great options for you. Everything is going to be in the 80-100k range each way for business class, so 120k points isn't quite enough to get you there and back. The only partner that doesn't show on there is Emirates, but they are still in that same range for business class, and a whoping 350k + miles for First.

You might consider flying one-way on miles and one-way on a revenue ticket. If you hunt around there are some decent deals for business class to USA from SE Asia (probably not KUL, you'll want to check all the major airports in the region, CGK, BKK, HKT, SIN, CMB, SGN to name a few)
