Since when is BA blocking award space to AA members?
 

Hi there,
I just posted in the AS forum about not being able to find BA flights that are showing as available to book with Avios but not with AS miles. In the past, availability was pretty straightforward, as in, if you find on BA you will find elsewhere. (I am trying to book a BA flight with AS miles or AA).
Now for the OW specific question: AA also doesn't show the space, so I think its BA blocking the space for AS and AA members. But the plot thickens when I log into my JL account, and it shows the space as available. So, its obviously not a blanket block for all partners but is BA now being selective of which partner FFP members can access their awards? Since when has this been happening, and is there any trend or pattern that can be observed? Like BA releasing seats closer to departure (à la LH F to their Star partners)
(Problem is I don't have any JL miles right now, and they don't have any CC transfer options except Marriott Bonvoy, which I don't have enough of either...but I digress)

Many threads (AA sub forum) on AA married segment awards. AA awards are not what they used to be a few years ago.
While you may think it is BA blocking awards it may be that AA/AS deciding not to offer. No one knows.

do you think AA is now playing married segment games on partner flights? isn't that even encroaching into a partner's area of control over their flights?

Somewhat off topic, but surely conspiracy theories are reliant on an abundance of opinion and on a *lack* of meaningful proof? Wanting proof is a good thing because it avoids the futile drain and pain of conspiracy theory.

AA is free to impose any extra requirements on the members of its program. They are under no obligation to offer, unfettered, the seats made available to it by partners. After all, your "agent" in these transactions is AA, and what they say, goes.

As an alternative, book the seats via BA's Executive Club.

In recent weeks, there were anomalies in the way AAdvantage was pricing BA flight redemptions, so it is possible the inventory has been temporarily pulled from these online channels. I would suggest calling in to book the flights you’re after
