You could still add THR if you flew CAI-MAD-CAI instead of LHR, then pick up a cheap MAD-LHR R/T:
CAI-MAD,LHR-HKG-NRT-HKG-DPS-HKG-AKL-MEL-PER-DRW-SYD-SCL-LIM-SCL-EZE-GRU-LHR-THR-LHR,MAD-CAI

I'm not sure about that - to my understanding THR (Tehran) is in Asia, not Europe/MiddleEast. I believe the dividing line between TC2 and TC3 in IATA terms is the Caspian Sea. In the same way you can't take the BA flights into the ex-Soviet central Asian countries and then return to London. The only way to go there on a OWE is to overland or use another ticket in one direction.

I stand corrected. The IATA website here: http://www.iata.org/agenthome/accreditation/areas confirms that Iran is at the Eastern edge of TC2.

Any chance you could give us a link to the "OW fare rules map" online? Or possibly scan it and put it on a webpage? (I could put it on one of mine if you could send me a scan to the address in my profile)
