BA's OWE changes:

British Airways is introducing changes to some Explorer and Circle type fare rules as summarized below.

Segment limitations now apply to Circle trip Explorer.
Free flight segments within each continent are limited as follows:
Africa: 4
Asia: 4
Southwest Pacific 4
Europe/Middle East: 4
(not more than 2 of which may be between the UK and Middle East, North Africa, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Georgia, Greece, Israel, Macedonia, Malta, Funchal, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Yugoslavia)

Two additional flight segments within each continent, except the continent of origin, may be purchased at a charge per segment of:
First Class: USD550.00 / AUD750.00 / GBP350.00 / HKD4300 / EUR450 Business Class: USD400.00 / AUD500.00 / GBP200.00 / HKD3200 / EUR300 Economy Class: USD150.00 / AUD200.00 / GBP75.00 / HKD1200 / EUR100
The fare class of the purchased flight segments may be lower than that of the oneworld explorer. The charge should be shown as "Q" in the fare calculation immediately following the city pair.
If currency of ticket origin is not shown convert the USD amount at the BSR. (for origin New Zealand convert AUD level at BSR)

Ticket time limits now apply to:
oneworld Explorer: Global Explorer: Circle trip Explorer: Visit Africa
For economy class bookings
a) When reservations are made 61 or more days before departure, ticketing must be completed within 14 days after reservations are made.
b) When reservations are made 60 to 22 days before departure, ticketing must be completed within 7 days after reservations are made.
c)When reservations are made 21 to 6 days before departure, ticketing must be completed within 3 days after reservations are made.
d) When reservations are made 5 days or less before departure, ticketing must be completed on the same day.

Booking Class changes apply to Oneworld Explorer, Global Explorer, Circle Trip Explorer, Visit Africa.
M class changes to L class for tickets issued from 01 September 2003.

Thank you Scott, always there with the inside info.

To ask a stupid question, what is the strict definition of ticketing? Does that mean collecting the ticket, or paying for the ticket and collecting it later (from, for example, Cairo)?

Edited to add that, if I read it correctly, it only applies to economy bookings. And the savings for booking these from 'low cost' markets seem less attractive.

As in two days later than it was first posted here, with almost identical text and no value add?

1) This is an OFFICIAL BA release
2) It includes the new additional segment fares
3) It includes the newest BA issued fare rules, something I've been posting for more than a year here.

As many people (myself included) use BA issued RTW's this information is quite handy.

Anything else to add/whine about?

And the previous post was the official CX release. The wording was identical (OW gets its act together sometimes).

I think my point is this is not BA introducing something, it is OW introducing it. We already have a thread here discussing the new rules, but you come blasting in posting it like it's new news with the typical British (Airways) arrogance that nothing counts in OW until BA says it.

The post would have been better as a reply to the ongoing thread saying:

"BA has just published the rules in identical wording. An online copy can be found here:
http://www.tarom.net/ba/explorerlatest.pdf

Which have saved us all the trouble of reading through, comparing word for word trying to work out why you made a new thread of this and then realising that in fact what you had posted was exactly the same as what had been posted previously.

christep: isn't there a more polite way to point out that it mirrors an earlier post?

Heh! I smiled as I said it... Sarcasm with a smile is the British way.

So what does this really mean if I want to buy a Global Explorer ticket ex CAI? To me, it seems like an insignificant change as far as Global Explorer fares are concerned.

By the way, are the fares on http://www.hardlink.com/~markdu/OWFi...orerFares.html for RTWs ex CAI still up to date?

Thanks.

If you are travelling business of first then no change. If you are travelling in economy then the booking class is L not M, which may make a difference to whether you get miles for the flights, depending on which FF programme you use. You also have to meet the ticketing time requirements detailed above.

Sorry about that. I start on the "One" files for whatever reason, and they're changing them ALL the time, and it takes a while to grab them. By that time I don't feel like getting the "Global" files. But I'll start with them next time.

Usermark,

I am coming up with a file not found error. Did the page change or was it removed?

Thanks.

Ok, grabbed the Global files. Of course, now the One files are all out of date. What is not found, Darren?
