Suggestions on maximising mileage between LAX and BOS

Need to maximise mileage between LAX and BOS for my oneworld explorer without using my one transcon segment. The most I can up with is 2,790 miles via DFW. Any better alternatives? Thanks!!

Does 9 miles count?

LAX-PHX minimum 500 miles
PHX-BOS 2299 miles

Total 2799 miles

Can you do LAX-LAS-DFW-STL-BOS?

Thanks for the suggestions. Want to try to keep it to two segments though. The primary purpose of my RTW is to visit the places I want to go to whilst achieving optimal mileage visiting those places. May try to visit Alaska. Where does AA fly to Anchorage from? DFW? ORD?

Thanks!

AA has summer seasonal service from DFW/STL/ORD to ANC.

There used to be a through flight (single flight number) LAX to SJU to connect to SJU to BOS, otherwise there is always LAX/MIA/BOS.

LAX-MIA is considered a transcon... I don't think leroys wants to use the 1 transcon here

LAX-SJU is also transcontinental.

On the other hand LAX-SXM is not and stops in SJU. So if you didn't have any luggage in the hold and had your ticket issued LAX-SXM//SJU-BOS you could get over 5000 miles in 2 segments without using your 1 transcontinental flight just by forgetting to hop back on the plane in SJU.

dfw/phx are probably it for 2 segment.

but we could be more creative if you let us know your whole plane in north america. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
e.g. the must be places and the orders for the 6 segments

Thanks all.
The plan is to come in from Australia to Boston. Using the two intercontinental dep / arr from North America if one is in transit without a stopover from South America to another continent rule, I would stop in Boston for less than 24 hours and continue on to South America.

My current best routing looks like:
Australia - LAX - DFW - BOS - LAX - SCL - LAX - DFW - BOS - DFW - London

The initial North America routing would not involve a stopover of more than 24 hrs. I will be in South America over the New Year holiday period and am more concerned with maximising my mileage in North America after the 1st of the year to work on my status for 2004.

Thanks for all your help.

Flying economy or business class I hope!

I wouldn't want to be giving too much assitance to someone who could be competing with me for difficult to get A class seats to South America over the New Year period http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

My plans are similar but I will take SYD-JFK If you want to maximize mileage you could do SYD-JFK//EWR-PHX-BOS-LAX

Thanks, 3544quebec. Unfortunately, am flying Economy!! Do you know if AA code-share on the QF flight as far as JFK? Can not seem to find it on their web-site. Thanks!

The Lone Arranger Jun 18, 2002 8:33 am

on the owexplorer ticket, don't you have to fly AA or CX (YVR-JFK) or QF (LAX-JFK) for the 6 segments in north america?
I can't find AA non-stop phx-bos, or am I missing something?

3544quebec Jun 18, 2002 9:05 am

Yes AA do codeshare all the way to JFK on QF107 although sometimes availability is not as good as on the QF code. Doesn't really matter as you get all the same elite bonuses/upgrade credits whichever code you use. Although in M class do you still only get 70% mileage credit on QF coded flights?

AA1052 PHX-BOS 1 stop 11.46am-8.28pm at least at the time of year we are talking about it is in the system but may not be operating for the glorious Phoenix summer

I think it has been noted that QF flies their own metal transcon and tho they don't have LTR's some people have used their flights on OWE, not including onward to NZ or OZ. (Or maybe they were wishful-thinking?)

i assume your constraint is:
Oz-BOS-LAX-SCL-n_america_LHR?
i also assume you could transit at more than one point in N.A. before going down to S.A. (i don't know the answer to this, some agent/airline might insist you cannot have split the 6 N.A. segments between the SCL trip)

then it could be
Oz-JFK-DFW-BOS-LAX-DFW-SCL-MIA-ORD-LAX-LHR for max miles,

or if in summer,
Oz-JFK-DFW-ANC-DFW-BOS-LAX-SCL-DFW-LAX-LHR

or some variations
