Possible 3 continent routing?
Hello FT friends. I am planning to do the following routing only for miles in Biz class and want your opinion about further maximising on a 3 continent trip
I am originating in India and have to do be in London first. I chose DXB rather than Muscat due to ease of returning same day. I also need to touch msy. Cannot do ANC as this will be in the next two months BOM-HKG-LHR-DXB-ISTANBUL-LHR-LAX-MIA-MSY-SEA-DFW-RDU-JFK-HKG-SIN-HKG-BOM Thanks |

I made a mistake of RDU instead of SJU. I may go to HKG-DPS with a final routing of BOM=SIN-LHR-DXB-LHR=IST-LHR-LAX-MIA-MSY-SEA-DFW-SJU=JFK-HKG-DPS-HKG-BOM This makes 50104 miles Great Just one more question I have an option of charging it to my BA account to earn tier points. Can you guesstimate the tier points for this routing DONE3 fare. If I dont earn 1700 points to make gold I will stick with American. Many thanks and hats off to you |
I believe Cathay has suspended service to Denpasar, your options in Indonesia are currently Jakarta and Surabaya.
Can't help you with the BA EC tier points, I know practically nothing about the BA programme. Hope you enjoy all your RTW's. |
Unless this is something that happened today, I would really question whether DPS has been suspended. There are two flights a day, 4 days a week, and one on the remaining. Maybe they will suspend one of them, but I couldn't see both, given that "high" season is about to return. CX's web site gives no info that they have been suspended, and I can say that 2 weeks ago, they were both running as scheduled. It does say that IST has been suspended as of the middle of the month.

i would really be surprised if DPS is suspensed but Surabaya is not.
Surabaya is the 2nd probably largest city in Indonesia, but i don't think there is so much trade (and hence traffic) over there |

Thank you all
Hagabard Viking: CX is flying to DPS I am going there on Dec 8 from HKG Confirmed Pegasus Thanks for your suggestions. Dut to a typo I missed out DXB-LHR-IST-LHR 4 segments. The other routes you suggested were valid before Sept 11 and now AA has cancelled lots of their direct flights. Thanks for the effort and help Anybody there with a knowledge of tier points? I cant find anything at BA web site |
Sorry about the misinformation about DPS. My bad. I looked at Cathay's web page and couldn't find it in their schedules. Found it now, it's listed under Bali/Denpasar, I was originally looking under D...
Did you try posting your BA tier point question in the BA forum? |
The CX IST flight IS suspended.

HV, we will forgive you this time, but as your punishment, you will need to do an RTW in coach! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
pegasus, Istanbul is technically in Europe and not the Middle East. |
I recently e-mailed a travel agent in DEL and was quoted the following:
OW 3-zone RTW, J class = INR180,340 + tax Conditions: - 6 stops in North America, 2 in Asia, 2 in Europe. Although I was told that backtracking was allowed, apparently they were not able to route my final two legs as LHR-SIN-DEL on a east-bound routing, and was told that only LHR-DEL was permitted. My original enquiry was for: DEL-SFO-MSY-SFO-YVR-JFK-LHR-OSL-LHR-SIN-DEL (stopovers, not sectors) Can anyone advise if the price is competitive, and whether it's really true that I can't return via SIN? Thanks! [This message has been edited by milehighj (edited 11-28-2001).] |
Pegasus8228
Many many thanks I will save and savor your thread for future reference. I understand IST is still europe. Once again I am very grateful for your reply |

The J class fare before taxes is 1.7 Lakhs. My travel agent in Madras gives a 8% discount in rupees bringing the cost to about 1.56 laks plus tax. Do not ask local travel agent about routing as they work with BA and you always get NO NO for an answer. You will get 4 segments each in Asia and Europe and six in USA with two stop overs in Asia and you acnnot visit India twice in Asia. It is best to ring AA round the world desk in US ask them to book this itinerary and take the booking reference and a FAXed itinerary to your travel agent and he will issue the ticket without any problem. If AA rtw says you cant do LHr-SIN-DEL then you cant do it! Insist on your 10% discount and he will moan and moan and WILL give you 8%. You can log into www.primetravels.com and see the latest RTW fares. It is an excellent site and you can chat with a live agent too. Best of luck |
