The only problem I've had recently was at LAX when I was travelling with my mother and since we had 3 large suitcases all tagged with QF orange premium stickers then the 7 feet tall border guard/migra official decided to stop us and ask wehre we were going. From experience I said "just passing through to a connecting flight to Sweden". That shut up this unpleasant bureau-rat and let us continue on to our way to Boston with a much-much later in the month connection to Sweden as a part of our mileage run. It never hurts to be a tourist who is just "passing through" as far as my experience goes.
