HKG_Flyer1
It pays to buy your ticket in India. I have in my hand a ticket issued last month BIZ class by BA Madras. Routing
Maa-LHR-MAD-LHR=ORD-MSY-LAX-HNL-SFO-ORD-JFK=YVR=HKG=SIN=BKK=BOM
What does the rule book say to a partially travelled legal ticket when a reservation agent does not like your face. Hope it doesnt happen to me

pegasus8228,

With respect to this 10-day adv. purchase requirement.... I used to think CX was cutting me slack, as well. However, sometime during the last year, I went through the rules, and I seem to recall being surprised to find out that the 10-day adv. purchase requirement was point of origin dependent.

From what I remember, there was definitely a 10-day requirement in North America, but it didn't appear that there was any advance purchase requirement in Asia. I had always assumed my HKG travel agent was pulling strings when she issued me these rtw's for next-day or same-day travel.

HKG_Flyer1, I think pegasus8228 is referring to the 10-day minimum stay requirement, not advance purchase...yes, there's officially no advance purchase requirement here in Asia (or at least in HKG), but there is a generic 10-day minimum stay (for all OWE regardless of country of origin, I think)...but if you are ticketing in HKG and have the first segment on CX, you could probably ask them to waive the 10-day minimum stay requirement...

ues, i was refering to out of your home base time of 10 day.

only NA needs 7 day advance reservation/pricing (it is basically an AA rule to allow for checking routing validity).
somwtimes they can waive it if you have a good reason.
outside NA, you can purchase 1 hours before departure, as long as the agent has enough time to work on it.

Wow, thats a great deal, but I am trying to make a intinerary out of it!!! It's hard! (I am talking about the UA-CX RTW deal.

So far I have:
CX 750 BKK-HKG 11:10am-3:10pm
CX 828 HKG-YYZ 4:20pm-10:00pm
-stopover-
UA 1671 YYZ-ORD 10:00am-10:49am
UA 944 ORD-FRA 2:30pm-5:45am
===Luxair to Ibiza via Lux. seperate ticket=== -but doesnt fly on June26th, arrhg!
CX 288 FRA-HKG 2:00p.m.-7:05am
CX 713 HKG-BKK 8:55am-10:40am

Questions:
1. Can I go back to BKK that way??? I thought NO/NO backtracking. Then how do you get back to BKK from Europe? Is there ANY way I can come back through Tokyo on this? Can anyone think of a way? That would be great.

2. I have done this with the intent to get as close to Ibiza as possible for a change over to a seperate ticket (Return), but FRA seems to be as close as I can get. IAD-MXP is possible, but the connections to IAD from YOW (currently my plan is a one way YOW-YYZ during my stopover, I will be going YYZ-YOW at the onset by car) don't work for sameday travel. Bummer.

heeelp

Thank you very much for all the information. You guys are great!!! Thank you so much for doing so much research on this. This is what makes this place so great! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I will be adding other segments so the 1w RTW is the best ticket for me except for the HNL leg. What I may do is to fly to HNL and then buy a one-way UA ticket to NRT and then catch CX back to HKG. So for the RTW ticket, it would be a surface transportation from HNL-NRT.
