I know everyone would like to be able to compare the data, but that just isn't easily doable in a free-www-server type of service like geocities. The 3 by 4 prices (at least) per country makes it difficult to show both sets of data. To make life easier on everyone, and not to mess up Netscape, this chart is being maintained by a plain old text (vim) editor with nothing but HTML. Now, if you can find someone to reorganize the data into a database format (again, not possible with geocities) and can get one of the currency exchange services (xe.net, oanda, etc) to provide you with live/day currency rates, then you are welcomed to do so. I would not be interested in punching in 30-40 exchange rates a day/week manually.

If anyone has a precise recommendation on how to normalize this data, I am willing to implement it, as well I would assume Darrien of the *A price chart. He would be facing the same issue.

PS: There is a link to the xe.net currency personal currency exchange service at the bottom of the price chart. Simply click on the spinning currency symbol, next to the link to the *A price chart.

PS2: Heard that there is a price increase coming November 1. If you paid for your OW RTW tickets before then, you will not face this price increase. Historically, this would be a 3-5% increase.

I think Hsi.Chang has done a terrific job in compiling the information for everyone to see. However, updates and rules and regulations are best obtained through your respective travel agencies or the airlines concerned because it will be THEM who will have the final say when they ticket is issued.

The prices here are for your info only. Price differences and comparisons is best left to the sources mentioned above. So should argurments as to whether the info that Hsi provided is correct or not. He is just doing us a favour and we should not penalise him if the info is slightly incorrect.

Agreed. He provided more info than I could have gotten out of an agent before they hung up on me... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Both the *A and OW charts copy and paste nicely into an Excel spreadsheet. From there, the charts can be processed against the daily foreign exchange rates. The Interbank wholesale rate are provided by Reuters. This is typically what credit card companies use and then add a surcharge. The difference between the bid and ask rates is negligible (<0.1%) for most of the currencies most of the time.

I created an Excel sheet for the *A fares and easily translated the currency to USD. The OW chart is a bit harder to process due to its layout but I can probably hack something out in the next week or two if there is a real need.
