V class fares on CX .....oh no!

I just bought a ticket CX economy class and the ticket showss V class...I have a dreadful feeling that I cannot get any miles on any programme on that....

CP? AA? QF? ... Can anyone shed any light here? I'm not BA Exec Club US based member, so don't suggest that..

I'll check with IB's programme tomorrow. But meanwhile, I start chewing my fingernails...

What about a BA Global (non UK/US) member? Silver and Gold Global members can earn mileage on Cathay's V fares as well as Y,B,H,K,M and W fares

Thanks BB, but I thought that someone posted something that V class is not eligible for point accumulation. Guess I will call YVR to check.

You're right Celestar340 ... V fares are not eligible for points accumulation on CP (see my post "100K bonus - 5 point checklist. I'll pass on a copy of the e-mail CPlus sent me to you. I'm not planning on using CX for my qualification so haven't researched the other 1w ff programs to know if V might be accepted. I hope it all works out for you.

Good luck!

Interesting that CP wouldn't post that in any of their info--went through the old newsletters too. In the same newsletter introducing CX, they were very specific about JAL and which fares were eligible.

You've got a good point BB. I got this info on CX's fare through an e-mail from the CPlus centre. Perhaps it's new.

CX " V " Class fares will earn points on Canadian Plus! I just got off the phone with an Exec Plat Res agent and she went around verifying what codes in economy class will give me points. She came up with the following: V,W,L,M,K,H,B,Y.

Now I don't know if that will qualify for the OneWorld promo or not, but it does not matter as I will be doing a few more CX flights before year's end.

I don't think American will credit a CX "V" class ticket - they told me that in coach only Y, B, & H fares count.

All other OneWorld members' Frequent Flyer Programmes will not accrue miles on CX's "V" fare.

I got a print-out from a Canadian Airlines office from their CRS on their rules regarding mileage accrual on CX flights.

It specifically states that:
Point Accumulation :-
Class of Service - 25% Business
Bonus - 50% First

Points Earned - N. American Residents
1 Point per Mile

- Asia Residents - 0.5 Point per Mile on CX flights in H,K,L,M & W class of service.
- 0.01 Point per Mile on CX flights in G class.

Points earned on CX designated flights count toward priv card status.

I spoke with 4 different CP agents. Two in Vancouver (one each at normal res and Exec Plat desk), one in Toronto, and one in London, UK. They all said that I can earn miles in "V" fare. Plus now I have the print out in my hot little hands as proof!

I stand corrected ! See my last post below.

Celestar340- I posted this above but Silver and Gold "Global" (non US/UK) members of BA's Executive Club do earn miles on CX's "V" fare.

I posted the mileage accrual list (for global members) in the BA thread http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/Foru...ML/000236.html

Thanks mijne - but I am a no-status BA Exec Club member based in the UK. So that won't help much. Besides, I'm now quite happy that I can get my full mileage on Canadian Plus.

Okay - the latest on this never ending saga..is that V class on CP as of 1st October do NOT earn miles.

I have faxed a letter off to CPlus and said that I have spoken to 4 different agents (2 in YVR, 1 in YYZ and 1 in LHR) and they all said yes. So they said that they will make an exception and see what they can do about it. Apparently the info on their CRS were last updated on 31August and the new rules kicked in on 1st October.

I even spoke to a CDN PLUS agent in YVR and they said YES, and even babbled on which class codes I can take.

Once bitten ... twice shy.

I'm due to take a flight on CP in Vclass next weekend..now does that qualify for points on CPlus?
