I didn't know this was still a contentious subject or I would have posted this earlier. This month's Canadian inflight magazine, Canadian, has all the details in a full page spread (pg 121, news for members). It details the 1M contest and the 100K bonus. The 1M contest is open to Canadian residents but the 100K bonus is available to all members. So forget about links on their homepage, it's there in black and white and a bit of oneworld blue!

Thanks Gabriel! Now I just have to figure out how to get a copy. I know that sounds stupid, but I'm flying YOW-ORD-LAX this time and usually I'd grab on in the YOW or YVR lounge. Rrrrrr. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
Any chance you could fax me a copy? My fax number forward faxes to my email, which means I could re-email a PDF to anyone who wants one, if you (or someone) faxes me the original. In any case, thanks for the pointer! andrew |
Only Canadian has the rule that flights have to be ticketed(marketed) and metal(operated) by Canadian to qualify. No other airline has interpeted the rules this way. American will qualify a flight ticketed on Canadian period--code share or not.
American Eagle is the same as flying on American just as Canadian Regional is the same as flying on Canadian. If you are flying on a British Airplane that is code-sharred with Canadian, Canadian may not qualify it as a Canadian flight. British Airways would. |
Andrew, I would be glad to fax you the info. E-mail me your fax number and I'll take care of it.

The "requalify for CP GOLD" promo I just received (posted in CP) says in the fine print, "Qualifying points are the base points, including minimum mileage guarantees and class of service bonuses, earned on oneworld airlines: Canadian Airlines/Canadian Regional Airlines (CP-designated), American Airlines/American Eagle (AA-designated), British Airways (BA-designated), Cathay Pacific (CX-designated), Finnair (AY-designated), Iberia (IB-designated) and Qantas (QF-designated) flights. Qualifying flights are regularly schedules CP/AA/BA/CX/AY/IB/QF designated flights."
While this isn't specific to the oneworld promo (it's a 13-segment or 10000 miles for GOLD promo), it implies that flying an AY flight # operated by BA, wouldn't qualify for this GOLD promo. Do such flights earn miles on CP at all? Maybe that's why their 100k restrictions are so tight. andrew |
In previous threads, discussing which is the best oneworld FF program to accumulate points in, it seemed CP was one of the better ones, as there were very few "non-qualifying" fares on other carriers. Should be in the CP forum somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.

I have the fax from Gabriel, saved as a 28k PDF.
email [email protected] if you'd like a copy. andrew |
