Did not know where this question should go...Have looked around but cannot find a decent answer..please move if better somewhere else.

Looking to fly Ex Eu to japan using either CX or QR in Business. Just wondering from a whole package perspective..assuming similar fares, similar times..who would you prefer to fly with? BAEC GCH too. thxs

My two cents from my experience:

QR:
+ Better Food
+ Doha less prone to weather delays

CX:
+ Better seats on longhaul only (QR has 2-2-2 on the 777 with no privacy, 787 and 350 seats are similar but have a fixed table which is in the way when you try to sleep)
+ Stopover - HKG is far more fun than Doha

Wash:
- Service usually good on both
- Lounge (Doha has more food options and a sit down restaurant, but can be far to gate)

Both are good airlines. Price, schedule and airplane type would be my deciding criteria (avoid QR 777 when traveling alone, avoid CX regional for longer flights)

Agreed but for OP as a BA Gold, quite likely that CX will win in these two aspects as well (the latter by a sizeable margin, the former...does QR give the royal treatment to emeralds?) ;)

Absolutely. At DOH, the OP's BA Gold / OWE will mean less than the fact that he's on QR J. As such, he will have access to the Al Mourjan lounge which is nice enough, but no-where near comparable to the CX First Class Wing and/or Pier that he could use at HKG.

CX if prices are similar, as I prefer having a proper longhaul flight rather than two midhaul flights.

Its a tough one. Both are great. I'd say CX marginally.
But here's another thought. with QR you get two long haul flights and tier points accordingly. Would CX HKG to Japan be long haul? So depends if you are chasing tier points or not.
