WARNING - ex-MPM Prices are moving!!
Just looking at Oneworld prices ex-MPM
BA is now showing a DONE6 at a base fare of MZN495,000 AA is still showing it as MZN225,000 Looks like this party may be coming to an end Get in quick if you're procrastinating Edited to add: In EF, the filing date of BA's new fares is 02AUG16 |
In EF, BA's new fares are:
DONE4 MZN357,060 (up from MZN162,300) DONE5 MZN407,000 (up from MZN185,000) DONE6 MZN495,000 (up from MZN225,000) AONE4 MZN581,900 (up from MZN264,500) AONE5 MZN669,900 (up from MZN304,500) AONE6 MZN803,000 (up from MZN365,000) Note: the "up from" base fares are what is showing in EF right now for AA fares ex-MPM The new fares are more than double the old fares:( However, given the way the MZN is falling against 'hard' currencies, maybe we all just have to wait little while until these new fares come back to what the previous fares were in USD terms:D But, then again we know of currencies where Oneworld abandoned use of the local currency and started quoting fares in USD only. |
If you are not ticketed NOW, you will have to pay the new rates. Agent T mentioned in the other posts stated that as of 11 am CDT, the new rates applied. I had a quote yesterday, but did not ticket it since I was informed it was OK for a few days. Oh well, I have my backup DONE4 ex-JNB.

In my opinion a delay by AA is doing its ticketing should not result in me being penalised by being charged the new fare. Does anyone have experience of being in this situation, and if so what was the outcome for you? headinclouds I think the quote you got would have words to effect "Ticket by mmm-dd", so perhaps you could be in the same situation as me. |

I am waiting to see what happens with my ex-MPM DONE6. It was priced last week and I phoned AA's Sydney office on Friday and provided my credit card details. But it has not yet been ticketed and my credit card has not been charged.

You may be OK since AA already had the CC details. I had not given any CC info. |

I just called to pay for mine. I'll see what happens.
EDIT: That was quick |
I just called and paid for my AONE4 that I booked yesterday. At that time the agent expected it not to be rated by fares until late today. aa.com showed a price (based upon the old fares) and said it was on hold, so called a few moments ago and provided payment at the price it was rated (based on old fares). Agent did not mention any potential price increases. It is now showing on request (which is normal) on aa.com.
Edited to add: About 10 minutes later and it is now ticketed at the price I expected (based upon the fares from yesterday). |

When you paid, were you told the previously quoted price?

try to buy one more from cx on monday. due to typhoon, agents are too busy due to rebooking... oh well.
|
They must have done this shortly after I checked yesterday after work (around late morning UTC Aug 1).

It seems that also exWDH xONEx fares are rising now.

Doesn't have to be someone at OW HQ in NY. Could be any agent who passed up questions about the fares. Someone quoted a comment from the AA desk asking about FT.
Another member ticketed with QF and they were told something would need to be done about the prices. Tickets were booked with AA, BA, CX, and QF according to posts here. |
Now that the Mozambique party is over, it's time for us to brag about who got one (or more)! (Just like spotty-faced teenagers right?)
I'll go first shall I: I got two DONE5 starting next month, heading West from Europe/Middle East, returning at the end SYD-JNB, so no backtracking through Europe/Middle East Did it through an Australian travel agent, ticketed by Qantas. All in cost AUD5156 DONE6 starting in June 2017, heading East from Europe/Middle East, returning to Europe for stopovers in London and Madrid - so backtracking through Europe/Middle East. I wanted flights between Europe and Middle East (LHR-TLV-MAD), but AA said no. I've made a complaint about that and so will wait for the outcome Did it through the AA desk, paid by phoning AA Sydney office All in cost AUD6210 So my thinking is that I've snagged a near two-year validity DONE11 for AUD11,366 all-in. For comparison an ex-Australia DONE4 has a base price of AUD11,999. These two tickets pretty much take care of my travel needs through until mid-2018 Combined with my paid flying in January this year, the first eight flights on my DONE5 will get me to AA EXP status for the first and probably last time. The flying on these tickets in 2017 will get me to AA PLT status, as will the flying in 2018. My starting flights are now unchangeable (at least not without paying the new fares). So I've just been online to pick my seat for my MPM-DOH flight in June next year. There is one other seat taken already in the business cabin. I'm thinking it MUST be a fellow FTer - so who is it who's flying MPM-DOH on June 8 2017? |
Very nice pandperth. well done.
|
Alas I had medical scheduling issues that didn't resolve until late yesterday and I was "off-line"...
Since the scheduling flights I would need can be deferred until Apr 2017, I can hope the MZN continues to depreciate and even 10% over three or four months would be "useful". Especially since I seriously doubt I could convince Mrs WF to re-visit CAI. The alternative could still be the PE cabin ex JNB with a RT ticket on CX. It would seem that the LONEx fares are still quite reasonable...:p Happy wandering Fred |

i am in the middle of a done4 ex jnb that started in jan 2016. 4060usd.
it gets me to aa exec plat with other cheap tickets i have flown. will end in durban in dec, and plan to travel overland to mpm to start ex mpm on jan 2017. fly that ex mpm till mid july and it has enough mqd for aa and over 90k eqm for aa. then pick up another ex mpm on july 20, fly the first 2 segments, and then will reroute the rest and fly in 2018. these 14 segments will have enough eqd for aa, and most of eqm. since i can still fly cheap domestic aa ticket or cheap international ticket with 4 swus. should have no problem to make aa exec plat in 2018 assuming.the rule wont change much. |
Argh!
I didn't see this alert. I've been putting together an ex-MPM AONEx. I'd checked EF Monday morning and afternoon, and it showed unchanged fares, so I thought I was safe. Was going to phone AA RTW today. It would have been my first AONEx.
In hindsight, I should have phoned over the weekend and booked a skeleton ex-MPM AONEx, then added the full itinerary later and paid the $125 reroute. Is there anywhere to start that's cheap now? |
exec plat gets 120% bonus on partner instead of 100%.. so. 12000 miles per ticket..

Surprisingly, EF still shows the previous price with QF and CX. Does that mean there's still hope to book a cheap ex-MPM RTW with these airlines ?
|
Egypt's looking good right now. And you only need a three continent ticket, as well.

But I wanted to purchase there because I have an Australian credit and so to avoid the foreign exchange that they would charge if I bought elsewhere I used flightplanet.com.au . It is a fully accredited travel agent, been around for years. However they do charge a service fee. I was told it is normally 8% of the ticket value, but I got a discount to 5% (so I paid $241). They also charge a fee for paying by credit card (1.5% I think, but I go that waived). To purchase a RTW ticket, you should be able to phone Qantas direct |

With only minor differences in price between xONE3 and xONE4. Too bad that ex-WDH A fares went up as well.

Does QF have a RTW dept/phone or just the general reservation number?
I called the AA RTW desk and they were able to get it done... but I realise that doesn't really help you. |
A bit off topic, but after all these price increases what is the cheapest place to start an AONE/DONE now? Anything better than Japan?

Exchange rates can change things at any time. (My first DONE3 ended up being ~$300 more expensive because of the time it took QF to sort out ticketing. The tool worked for what I wanted, at the time QF ticketed for JL via the tool. There were issues with transaction limits and we had to try to coordinate a temp limit increase and ticketing within the increase period with the bank, QF SYD and QF Japan while public holidays - and closed offices - kept getting in the way) |
