Pretty unlikely I'd say. Only possibility would be if Comair starts a JNB-LUN to compete with SAA, who currently has multiple flights per day, sometimes you can even get an intnl config A330 with flat beds.

I did read some murmurs that QR were looking at it. BA did try to revive it some years ago and now KLM has stopped its limited to EK (which I'd like to avoid at all costs)

Its a route I will be doing a bit more frequently and will end up trying Ethiopian via ADD I think.

The QR CBR flight goes via SYD. It is a way to get around the 21 flight/week limit by using an unlimited flight port with the 7/week allowance for such an unlimited flight to go to/via one of the limited ports.

Comair (BA) are starting a weekly return service (Sats only) from Jo'berg to St Helena starting in Feb 2016. At least, they plan to as long as the new airport is open. Trials began in Sept 2015 and it looks good.

To date, it is a 3-day trip by boat from Cape Town to St Helena.

Does anyone know the prospective airport code? It would make a healthy side trip on a RTW (5 hrs+ each way) assuming that it counts as part of Africa in the same way that Mauritius does.

The airport is now open (code is HLE), but no BA/Comair flights scheduled:(

Moreover, QF have ceased flying via DXB altogether.

Since last weekend, QF1 & QF2 now route SYD-xSIN-LHR & LHR-xSIN-SYD respectively.

Also, four class services are now available between MEL/SIN - connecting with QF1/QF2 for those travelling to/from LHR.
