2022-Apr-21 New Version of the Rule Sheet - S7 removed from the list of Oneworld Airlines
According to diffchecker this is the only change

I read through the Global Explorer rules but not sure I understood this point, hence the question: Is there any routing limitations for LATAM flights? For example, would the following be allowed to be included in a xGLOBxx itinerary: AKL-SCL-GIG-SCL-BOG? (I couldn't find a better routing to include both Rio and Bogota).

Also, for the distance calculation, it is nautical miles, right?

Many thanks.

I don't believe there is any specific limitation for LA flights. AKL-SCL-GIG-SCL-BOG looks fine.

My understanding is that it is Statute Miles

I was googling this and found an official (looking) IATA document titled 'Why are nautical miles used in aviation?' I then did more digging and indeed it is statute miles for ticket distance calculation purposes.

Anyone able to confirm whether surface sectors are currently included DGLOB34 mileage? Thanks

Code:

surface sectors must be included in the total
            mileage.

Code:

note - mileage for origin-destination surface
will be included in the total mileage.

2022-Aug-31 New Version of the Rule Sheet

- LATAM Group removed from the airlines that can be used :td:
- Comair removed from the list of BA affiliated Airlines (operated in southern Africa)

Just as I was planning a DGLOB34, to include a LATAM flight in South America (BOG-SCL) :(

I hope [MENTION=2110]R2[/MENTION] bought the ticket before this change (see post #17)

Way too late I know, but I can confirm that the mileage of the surface segment on my current DGLOB34 was included in the total mileage.

2023-May-01 Second Visit to Asia rule change

2023-May-01 Second Visit to Asia rule change
According to diffchecker, this is the only change.

Quote:
4(f) Only one intercontinental departure and one intercontinental arrival permitted in each continent except as follows:
  1. Two permitted in North America.
  2. Two permitted in Asia when one is for travel between the Southwest Pacific and Europe/Middle East.
  3. Two permitted in Europe/Middle East for travel to/from/via Africa. If travel is to/from Europe in both directions, itinerary may not include Mauritius/South Africa.

The indicated words have been removed. This is an improvement!
It makes a second visit to Asia allowable when:
  • One is for travel to Africa (e.g. AKL-HKG-JNB)
  • Point of Origin is in Asia and the itinerary is westbound, for example:
  • CMB-LHR...LAX-NRT-HKG-SYD-PER-HKG-CMB
