JFK to LHR in First
Hi,
I recently booked a First Class ticket to LHR for my vacation coming up this spring. AA had availability, so I took that. Recently, I read that BA has a better First Class cabin than AA (and leaves from EWR, which is a better airport for me anyways). I called AA and the CSR told me that BA's taxes were going to be $350 more to my AA award itin.
In your opinion, is $350 worth going first class in BA rather than AA?
Thanks!

Thanks. I called and the $300 in taxes plus $150 change fee = $450 is not worth it for me. I can think of some pretty amazing stay-cations I could take for $450. Thanks for your help everybody!

I would agree with this. With the recent enhancements to AA F (PJs, mattress pad, etc.), the $350 is not worht it. You would get a better ground experience at JFK on BA and likely a better meal, but it's a very short flight and not a great opportunity for BA to showcase what it can do in F. If we were talking about the return flight, I would likely poney-up the extra $.

What is really worth expenses?
In one situation you might consider a 200$ cab ride "worth it", given the situation your discount premium ticket is worthless arriving to late at the airport. In another a 20$ cab ride taking you to your reserved table at a restaurant in time might be "too expensive", thus going subway for 3$ and hoping they will keep your reservation, although 35 minutes late.
The AA F product has been improved, also the 6+ hours night flight does not really give room for much of F cabin indulgence.
My advice: Save 450$ for a Night to Remember in London !
