XONEx and UK stopovers
I am booking an DONE4 starting in either AMM or CPT with 2/3 connections via London, hopefully ticketed with AA.
With the high charges for UK departures it makes a big difference whether this is ticketed as connections or stopovers. Can anyone advise what would happen if I ticket originally as connections then date change after ticket issue to be stopovers? Would AA need to take the extra tax/APD at time of date change? |
Yes, also you pay the reissue fee as well as the APD making it more expensive than ticketing it originally. Gone are the days when agents overlook transit/stopover discrepancies on tickets.

APD is £0 for as journey such as CDG-xLHR-SYD in Business Class. Change that to CDG-oLHR-SYD and APD goes up to £170.
This would be collected from you. Also, as this is a re-issue (change of routing), on a DONEx another UD$125 is payable. Finally, the Airline that does the re-issue is entitled to charge a service fee. |
(1) Prior to departure (a) Changes to date/time/oneworld carrier/inventory changes are permitted provided ticketed points remain the same. If the first flight coupon is being changed, and the fare level has increased since ticket issuance, the difference between the old and new fare will be charged. If the fare level has decreased since ticket issuance, no refund will apply. Exception: For fares originating in TC1, changes to the first international flight and preceeding flights are not permitted less than seven days prior to the date of the first ticketed flight. (b) Changes other than to Date/time/oneworld carrier/inventory permitted at a charge of USD125.00 per transaction. If the fare level has increased since ticket issuance, the difference between the old and new fare will also be charged. If the fare level has decreased since ticket issuance, no refund will apply. (2) After Departure (a) Date/time/oneworld carrier/inventory changes are permitted provided ticketed points remain the same. (b) Changes other than to Date/time/oneworld carrier/inventory permitted at a charge of USD125.00 per transaction. (c) No Show requires rebooking at a charge of USD125 (d) If the rerouting results in an increase to the number of continents or extra flight segments previously charged, the ticket shall be recalculated. Ticket may be reissued to any applicable Explorer fare validating all rules of the new fare except for restrictions on retroactive use. Rerouting fee applies when the resulting fare is less than or equal to the original fare. No refund applies. See Upgrading provisions when recalculation results in a new fare basis at a higher value. I've changed dates, times and carriers on xONEx's a number of times. I've never been charged anything for it. |

Changing (for example) CDG-xLHR-SYD to CDG-oLHR-SYD is a date/time change - which should result in no rerouting fee.

I thought that changing a transfer (X) to a stopover (O) is considered re-routing. Is this not the case for xONEx?

Changing a transit (x) to a stopover (o) or vv is indeed a routing change.
As far as GDS's is concerned, the effective routing is changing from CDG-SYD to CDG-LHR-SYD; Transit ports are not part of the 'effective' route. |
