Jetstar group CEO Bruce Buchanan said that the company will also join Oneworld alliance, which will put it in the same team as Qantas, Cathay Pacific, British Airways and Japan Airlines. |
Consensus on QF forum is the journalist confused JQ joining OW fare product with JQ joining OW.

It's a journalist and Qantas was mentioned. The word "Qantas" turns a journalists brain to mush causing them to either make silly mistakes or creating over the top rants in relation to expected irregular operations.

Damn it! I flew JetStar in November when I was in Australia, but couldn't get AA to give me any mileage credit even though it was associated with Qantas at the time. I could have used the extra miles!

You wouldn't be getting any miles for JQ coded flights in the future either.

Why not? If it's part of One World I should get mileage credit. It was a commuter flight between Sydney and Melbourne.
