Mexicana - undead?

This article says MX hopes to resume flying (with new ownership and a much reduced network) later this month.

Their website certainly hints that way. :)

This article says:

Mexicana Airlines, which stopped operating in August 2009 due to financial trouble

Let's hope so. I find it telling that oneworld is still holding out hope by keeping the logo on the front page.

Peace.

Hope they get back up and running an stable again soon.

Quite impressed by their service in Y MEX-CUN last year and hope to visit Latin America again in a year or 2.

Maybe its more than just hope in that they know more about the finances and the certainty of MX coming back to life.

Well with that degree of patronage they are sure to be back in the air shortly :p

When flying out of Garadualajara 2 weeks back I saw people cleaning the Mex lounge.

LatAmTraveler Jan 18, 2011 4:12 am

I'm hoping they do come back. With Mexicana out of the picture and LAN to an extent in a state of limbo due to the LAN-TAM merger (LAN seems to have discontinued a lot of their schedule to and from Brazil, nearly all are code shares on TAM now), Oneworld is increasingly uncompetitive against other alliances for travel within Latin America (especially in South America).

There are reports , so far in Spanish only ( and since I don't read Spanish I can't vouch for their accuracy ) that future *A member AV is taking a 25% stake in the "new" MX

The note on the Mexicana lounge said something along the lines of "Sorry - the lounge is closed temporarily for improvements" when I travelled from MEX last week.

CRAZYBUBBA Jan 21, 2011 4:27 am

I look forward to it. I have a monthly route to latin america that I'd love to try with them.

Looks like it is not un-undead, but the paramedics are struggling:
