Oneworld Visit Australia fare - ?
I am travelling LHR-SYD with BA in February and I am looking at adding on some internal flights in Australia, probably between NSW, Victoria and Tasmania.
Has anybody on the board used a Oneworld Visit Australia fare? I'm sure there are reams of small print but the Oneworld page on this product is somewhat superficial and just magisterially waves a hand in the direction of "contacting Oneworld members". I've also turned up a Qantas Airpass but the only detailed marketing information on this is aimed at the North American market. If anybody has any advice on domestic Australian add-on fares within Oneworld that are compatible with a BA ticket (already ticketed), I'd be very grateful! |
I have the same question, so its good to see your post.
Are you looking here?: http://www.oneworld.com/ow/air-trave...nd-new-zealand I also looked on the Oneworld website and they suggest booking in sectors and give example costs, but I can't see how I work out the the distances. I assume it is from the interactive map? |
You can work out approximate distances using http://gc.kls2.com/
Those domestic fares are good if you want flexbility, since they allow changes with no cost and allow you to get on an earlier flight if you arrive at airport early etc but they are not generally the cheapest fares For cheapest fares, I would suggest just going and booking the cheapest fares either online or through where purchased the ticket. These may well be cheaper but there are change fees of around $50 For flexibilty get the pass though they are not the cheapest fares as a rule I have found an old set of rules for the boomerang pass as used to be called and expect that the rules haven't changed dramatically http://www.qantas.com.au/regions/dyn...ermsConditions |
Hullo Pommyboi.
I haven't got as far as the map! I'm not so concerned about the price because my routing is largely fixed. I'm more concerned about the ticket T's and C's (flexibility; refunds; is it compatible with the ticket I have, which is a promotional one; how far ahead do I have to book etc?). I think it is very unhelpful how little information on the Visit fares is available. Even before the wonderful interactive booking tool, the OW website used to have the full T's and C's for the Explorer fares to download. I'll have to ring BA tomorrow to get a decent answer. I'll post what I find out. FYI, I've not had anybody reply on the BAEC website, which is a surprise. There's usually always somebody who has used a fare, no matter how obscure! |
I'll post whatever I find out from BA. I've also asked the BAEC board but there has been no reply, surprisingly: there's is usually somebody who has used a fare, no matter how obscure!

Don't know if the following is available in the UK but I have seen online TAs offer in Singapore and Hong Kong. Much better deal in $$ than the OW offering.
