Flight cancelled after buying one4

Hi I recently bought a one4 for august next year(can't remember the letter code for economy) during the sale. I used all 16 segments.

I have been checking my flights and it seems that my flight JL 722 from kul-sin has been cancelled on August 6. I cant see any other flights between these two cities for any days either side. What are my options now? Will I get a refund for that flight so I can buy a ticket on an airline that flies between the two (no oneworld airlines fly between these two cities). Will they try to transfer me between another two cities (if so that will take me to at least 17 segments and make a long diversion).

Thanks for your help
Bevan

If your flight was ticketed with fixed dates the general opinion is the airline will fly you via a 3rd city or a non Oneworld airline for no additional cost to you. That is 17 segments. Very unlikely they wil refund you any money. If your flight was ticketed with OPEN dates its your problem. However next August the flight may be back. Best to phone the airline or who ever issued your LONE4 ticket next year some time.

Hi. Thanks for your help. Yes the whole trip was date fixed. I booked it using the online tool. I was going to spend a night in Kuala lumpur then fly down to singapore the next night so if I had to connect it would have killed a lot of my sightseeing day.

Has anybody had any experience with being booked on a non-oneworld airline where this has happened?

On a previous xONE4 ticket bought through CX, one flight that was previously confirmed was changed in time so I would not make a connection (CX to CX connection). CX contacted me and offered several proposed solutions, one of which was being put on a TG flight.

So yes, it is possible to be put on a non OW flight - but in my case the ticketing airline was the same as the airline that caused the change and it was the same airline that offered the solution. It may not be that easy if you have a mix of airlines in this scenario.

Thanks for the help. The trip is ticketed through finnair so I'll contact them. I don't suppose anybody knows if the flight is cancelled forever? I've looked online and cant see it in the list of cancelled JAL flights.

Welcome to FT, bevan7! The flight is still showing in the timetable but all availability is zeroed out. So I guess you will have to contact AY so they can have a look at this. Either way, you will be going from KUL-SIN.

If they've cancelled JL722, how about JL721? If they dropped the SIN-KUL-SIN legs of 721/722, then they would have to retime the NRT-KUL flight as the aircraft used for the KIX-SIN-KUL return and the NRT-KUL return swap in KUL (NRT-KUL-SIN-KIX and KIX-SIN-KUL-NRT).

Anyway, since you have a confirmed date on the ticket, they'll have to get you between KUL and SIN. If that means putting you on another airline or routing you through another city, then it's at the airlines cost.

I don't suppose anybody knows if the flight is cancelled forever? I've looked online and cant see it in the list of cancelled JAL flights.
JL721/722 is KIX-SIN-KUL. There was talk in another thread a few months ago about the KIX-SIN possibly being cancelled.

Afraid to say it has been cancelled indefinitely. YVR-MEX is going too, amongst others:

I wouldn't sweat it - in my experience Finnair are usually on it. I imagine you will be booked alternate flights on CX, which is nothing to complain about (apart from the extra time in the air)!

If a pre-booked flight is cancelled due to strike action (guess who I'm thinking of ... ), should I be able to get a rerouting in order to keep to the rest of my itinerary? (AA-purchased AONE5. Reservation in D for BA GVA-LHR on 1st Jan 2010.)

Yes, but you won't be able to break any fare rules except by going through the relevant airline, and even then only close to the date of travel.
