I would agree that there are some good improvements ahead for CO. What they still need to work on is the 75k+ per year incentive, which doesn't exist. If they addressed this I would be heading to CO instead of AA.

I am based in MI (DTW hub). I have had three so-so flights on DL so far (lost bags 2/3 times as well), not a snowball's chance in hell for upgrades (some of those, as I posted a few weeks ago went to FA's and Netjet pilots, I kid you not!). I am thinking about jumping ship. I think the merger is going to be one huge cluster --you know what -- at least in the beginning. I don't need this kind of stuff, business travel is becoming a pain no matter how you cut it: but what looks to be coming down the tracks re: the final details of the merger looks hellish (I could be wrong). Of course, real "hell" is ATL/Hartsfield :) and it seems clear that DL will move as much as they can through ATL (may be a good business move, but it is not good for me).
How does one go about contacting CO? Perhaps better put, "who" does one contact? I tried regular email (TTU stuff) and I do not get my questions answered. Should I just phone and skip the online stuff? I am only GE (NWA/DL), but I will re-qualify (for GE) I have about 130K in banked miles and two upcoming TATL flights in first/B class: one to AMS one to TLV. I also have a three domestic business flights coming up PBI and AZO-JAN (really fun in old CRJ's, not)-- Does CO match and does it allow you to transfer your banked miles? Thanks Thanks, http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...er-thread.html |
Wow, I'm pretty impressed. Especially on the redeposit/change fees for awards. I didn't know that *A elites had alliance-wide bag fee waiver policies. 3 class Int'l is a great option as well.
CO Insider really puts SkyMilesInsider to shame in the detail, forthright info and bit of humor front. ^ |

Continental's contact is more personable, honest, straight forward, empathetic and realistic. Yeah there's stuff in Continental's announcement that isn't positive - and he knows it! Delta tries to spin any negative as a positive like some Senator on a campaign trial. I find Delta's direct communication to us disingenuous and condescending...and it often slick and untrustworthy - like a politician. |

Really?? About how much would the paid upgrade be to Europe? Or JNB?

For those purchasing Economy tickets DL offers 150% EQM for Y/B/M fares. CO on Y only to match UA's lame program.

However, if you do a full analysis across the airlines, DL's 2010 is absolutely without competition.

Old NW & CO - balance between cost of benefits and revenue generated by PAX...win-win mentality at work Old DL - lowest cost of benefits and highest revenue generated by pax - Loose-Win mentality at work New Global Airline (DL) with "Best of Both" (as quoted by Richard Anderson) - enhance benefits to lowest possible cost while touting them as "best of both/best in class" while attempting to generate highest revenue from pax possible....marketing folks win-pax loose New CO - Balance between cost of benefits and revenue generated by PAX ...win-win mentality at work I'm sure the bean counters on Virginia Street are laughing at the bean counters on Smith Street....unfortunately I believe the bean counters on Wall St will declare the folks on Smith St right in due time |

<Flame Suit On> While I agree completely, honestly though, all DL has to do (and I know I make it sound so "easy";):D), and IHMO, the new SM program could be best in class if it were simply to make the SWUs useable on all mileage earning non-opaque fares domestically and something better than Y/B/M internationally. It would be that simple. If it does not (and likely won't), then I agree totally. Please don't shun me Y'All!:D <Flame Suit Off>

As much as I like the CO FF program and the airline, it would never work for me. The hubs and route structure stink in Nashville, and a lot of the southeast. Not sure how much better it would be in the midwest either,I will end up useing more of AA to cover the hole in the southwest with Delta as I use AA for ORD and SJU flights, already.

Well, now with all this DEQM stuff and shakedown of changes I'm definitely more ears open to CO. I'm going to wait til all the dust settles and likely decide sometime in the late year. I'll hit PE for sure on NW and I'd expect CO to match me to their top tier.
Wait and see... |

Reduction from 150% EQM to 125% EQM in business class
Front cabin earning changes. Effective Jan. 1, 2010, members will earn 125% base miles on F, C, J and D fares (instead of 150%). Also on this date the Elite Qualification for F, C, J, D, Z, Y and B will be 1.5 Elite Qualification Points (instead of 2) and the Elite Qualification Miles earned will be 150%. These changes will apply to all OnePass members worldwide for travel on Continental. |
