Beginner's luck?
I've only been Plat since the end of last year on NW, but so far, I've done quite well with it. All 17 of 17 segments I've flown this year domestically have been UGed. The nicest surprise came yesterday on my LAX-DTW-AMS-IST flight... I was quite prepared for riding my row 11 assignement in the back. When I handed the GA my ticket, there was a double beep, he reached down and handed me a new boarding pass saying "We've sold out in coach, Mr. LaxFlyer00. Enjoy your new seat up in WBC!" My very first intl flight as plat and I get an op-up... on a $550 ticket, no less! Thanks, NW!

Congrats. This is why I have stayed loyal to NW. I get lots of upgrades. Once that tanks, all my leisure $$ go where it's cheapest....
Keep your fingers crossed for a sold out flight to TPE next week for me!! I need an op-up to join my Mom in WBC....

Yes, just last week I was at the grocery store with some friends and I heard " Mr AvidFlyer how are you!". I turn around and it is one of the BOS GA's! She asked why I was not there last Saturday! I thought to myself "I must be flying way too much". Of course my friends could not believe it.

Did she proceed to ask about a case of the Mondays?

Well, when a boss wants you to work on Saturday he generally asks you at the end of the day, right? Yeah.
So, all you gotta do is avoid him... on the last few hours on Friday, duck out early, turn off your answering machine... you should be home free, man.

I have been on several higher-end cruises where they take the boarding photos of the VIP's and print them on a master list of "those to be kow-towed too". That photo array is then distributed to all departments, so all staff can know them on sight.
I know that Radiocycle must have his own gilt-edged page in the NW book.
