How does Elite status work?
I am a regular WP member, but I'm doing some travelling this year, and might be able to rack up a total of 25.000 miles, in order to be silver. I see that the Elite year goes until March 05 (or April, can't remember). If I reach Silver in, say, December, will I be Silver only until Elite year 05 begins? Or will my silver status be active thru 05, but I got to make another 25.000 in order to be Silver 06?

There are many existing threads that you can use the search function to find answers to your questions, as well as info on the NW WP site.
In general, if during 2003 traveling in excess of 25Kmiles (or qualifying segments) you would have qualified for 2004 WP elite status that is good from March 01 2004 until March 1 2005.

If you have a lot of trips planned, you might want to consider going on one inexpensive mileage run to get you there faster. I barely made silver in 2002 at the end of the year.
The F/C upgrades, bonus miles and other promotions made travelling fun again, and somewhat addictive. (Okay, very addictive)
I made gold by late summer in 2003, and platinum before Thanksgiving. This year I had a total of 32k before the end of February (28k on NW), and hope to be at 50k before summer starts.
And the Elite program for 2004 ends on the last day of February 2005(28th next year), not the 1st of March. So if you have attained Silver in 2004, will be valid through Feb 28, 2005.

Just to simplify this, if you have 25,000 paid flown miles by, say, 6/30/2004, you will be "promoted" to silver in early 7/2004 & will be silver for the rest of 2004, through 2/28/2005 & will qualify for 2005 silver, covering the period 3/1/2005-2/28/2006. Hope this helps & welcome to FT.
