Fun Flight Numbers

Just a bit of fun on the board. Has anyone noticed any "fun" flight numbers at Northwest? For example, one of the flights to Las Vegas is #777. One of the agents told me that these are not accidental, noting that flight 1492 used to go to Columbus.

Also CO 1492 (TUL to) IAH to CMH

DL 711 LAS to SLC

UA 500 (BUF to) ORD to IND

UA 1492 (MSP to) ORD to CMH

UA 1776 ORD to PHL

UA 711 ORD to LAS

US 1776 FLL to PHL (no big surprise-- into the PHL hub)

US 711 LAS to PHL

AA isn't any fun.....

Well right now, 777 goes ORD-MSP-LAS. Starting 10/27, just MSP-LAS.

666 Doesn't exist.

1492 doesn't exist right now, but starting 10/27 goes GRB-DTW-ROC..hardly the route Columbus took..

1776 is indeed DTW-PHL

500 currently does FAR-MSP-IND, starting 10/27 just MSP-IND.

I've taken NW 1492 in the past-- it was the 7am or so MSP--CMH nonstop, and has been for years.

Maybe they weren't paying attention when they assigned the number for Oct.

----------

Update: Looks like NW uses Airlink on this early MSP-CMH now, so that would explain why the 1492 flight number went away.

One of the 747-400's tail number is 666.

How appropos NW's devil-red logo color, and the way its ground and cabin denizens alike invoke misery, pain, and suffering.

There is no UA 911 or AA 911. Good sense. Even worse if they operated to LGA or JFK.

How about a flight 707 to Seattle or a flight 321 to Hamburg?

Where does Flight 69 go? Interstate 69 freeway goes from Indy--Fort Wayne--Lansing--Flint--Port Huron, ending at the Bluewater Bridge to Sarnia, Ontario, where Canadian freeways continue to Toronto & Montreal.
How about DL999 from Hell to ATL?

I'm pretty sure UA has "never" had a 911. I remember looking through the old UA timetables that listed flights in numerical order and 911 was skipped.

There are also no UA flights that correspond to model numbers of equipment UA owns: no 319, 320, 727, 737, 747, 757, 767 or 777. You can imagine the potential confusion with ATC: "United 757, follow behind the United 757 and the United 767 will give way to you." "No wait, I'M United 767!"

UA 707, however, currently runs MFR-SFO-BUR, and there do exist UA 318, 330 and 340.

Finally, it's probably not coincidence that all the UA Asian flights begin with 8, and very few of them contain the digit 4.
