22k miles for $127.50?

Hi! I'm new to the NW forum. I heard about the Fly Free Faster promo in the Hilton forum and decided to check it out. I do not currently have a WorldPerks account, nor have I bought any flights from the NW website, nor actually ever flown NW. I diligently searched this forum for bonus opportunities and www.nwa.com for cheap flights, and came up with the following.

My itinerary, from www.nwa.com
Date Flight# Depart Arrive Miles
5/4/02 242 DCA/09:25 DTW/11:03 391
5/4/02 3529 DTW/12:10 CVG/13:19 240

5/4/02 3514 CVG/14:50 DTW/16:04 240
5/4/02 895 DTW/17:25 DCA/18:50 391

Price: $127.50

Mileage calculation:
4000 - Valpak WP signup bonus
2000 - Flight miles
500 - Turbo miles mileage bonus
1000 - Turbo miles DTW connect bonus
2500 - First web purchase
2000 - E-service check in
10000 - Fly Free Faster
-----
22000

I include the Fly Free Faster bonus here because it is the only "qualifying activity" that interests me, so unless I did these flight I would have to pass on the promo. Doing the 5 partner activities would not be a problem for me.

My question is, have a made any mistakes? Do I have any bonuses that will not not "stack"? Are there any other bonuses that I have missed?

Thanks in advance for your expertise,
Rocketman

Here's another promo which nets you 50 "free" miles... yea, only a few, but they're yours for flying!

Thanks for pointing it out, but aircares expires 4/30/02 so it doesn't coincide with the Fly Free Faster promo.

pppfun - half of the fun is discovering the special deals yourself. Since you live in Minneapolis you aren't going to get terrific bargains from Northwest but watch for other airlines - when one of them gets mad at NW they post good deals to the NW hubs. Last week YX had $128 fares (about $150 after taxes and stuff) from MSP to PHX and to LAS. A couple of years ago I flew UA from MSP to HNL for about $300. And right now it looks like DL has reasonably good fares to many places from MSP. Besides, even though you don't get WP miles for them you can take Cybersavers every weekend.

Looks like a trip you cannot afford not to take. Be sure to register for all the promotions before your trip and make sure all the bonus points are credited to your account after your trip. Once you registered they are supposed to be posted automatically but my experience is that most of the time you need to call and ask for them.

Bon Voyage!

I have never had a problem with bonus miles posting... Howeverm I expect I will with the Visa promotion.

On the MSP subject, I flew ORF to MSP last summer for $85 + tax round trip on a CO ticket, but on ALL NW metal. That fare usually runs about $300+.

Try this for $148:

05/04/02 07:23 MSP-PIT Flight 3426
05/04/02 18:55 PIT-MSP Flight 1063

Anyone find anything better?

Valpak is a coupon mass-mailing company - 10% off from. One recent mailing included an enrollment bonus for NW.

Rocketman,

Unless I am mistaken (and I'm sure someone else here will correct me), there is also currently a 2,500 mile bonus for signing up for a Worldperks account and making a flight.

Not sure where to find the info, but I know I saw it on NWA.Com recently.

I signed up for my WorldPerks account using the 4000 point Valpak bonus, so I won't be able to use the 2500 point sign-up bonus.

I just sign up but I will not flight until June 22. I did not see any bonus for sign up. Where do you find the sign up bonus?

Thanks.

pppfun -

as far as MSP - any chance you could fly out of a nearby airport and connect through MSP? You'd get the connecting bonus and you might be able to find a cheaper fare.

ALSO...
I found this one for Detroit area people, originating in TOL, also to CVG. (And it's even the weekend of my sister's graduation from Miami University - Ohio. We were planning to drive, but with a deal like this, it looks like we're flying!)

COST: $102.50 including taxes/fees/etc.

5/3/02 - TOL-DTW, DTW-CVG: there are several departing flight options ranging from 7:00am to 6:55pm. Also several times on 5/4/02.

5/5/02 - 7:05pm CVG - 8:20pm DTW #3632
9:00pm DTW - 9:55pm TOL #5879
This is the only returning flight option.

Same bonus apply from first post above. For those already enrolled with NW, you can still get 18000 miles for $102.50 which equals $.0057 per mile!

This is two cheap fares to CVG listed on this thread - maybe it's time to see some Reds baseball?!?

Anyone have a real cheap mileage run from either PVD, BOS, or BDL?? I would like one to complete the FFF bonus. Thanks
