upgrade

The more and more I read this forum. I am beginning to feel like everyone is getting upgrade to business and first class. Do you know on typical flight, what % is actual paying business/first class customer and what % is upgrade, comp?

That's the idea... To share knowledge and improve our chances for free upgrades and travel. As for percentages, I have no idea. Looking at the high fares charged for first class travel domestically, I would doubt the percentage of paying passengers is very high.

My recent experinece, over the last 5-6 weeks
on 3 trips to Chicago Midway from MSP is, out of 6 flight, I got upgraded 5 times. In between those flights, I had a trip from MSP to SJD on CO, I got upgraded once out of four flights. I would have to say that I have been pretty lucky. I have one more trip to LAX coming up, we'll see.

I really thought I might be less successful now, now that there are fewer flights to most destinations. I thought upgrades would pretty much disapear. I guess it depends on the fligts you take, the first and last flights out seem to be full in FC.

P.S. I have Silver Elite on NWA.

I have a very high upgrade rate on domestic flights (and a decent upgrade rate for my companion) and a very low upgrade rate on intl flights.

Most of my flights originate in Spokane, WA, where upgrades are hard to come by -- I'm averaging about 50% between Spokane and MSP (both ways). Out of MSP to EWR, Albany, Balitmore and Cleveland I am near 100%. Companion upgrades are running about 50% between Spokane and MSP, and near 100% elsewhere. Once, flying on July 4, they upgraded two companions -- and I didn't even have to ask! Great customer service.

I just finished a lfight to BKK. I was going to be upgraded because of overload, until they realized I was with 3 members of my family. Gate agent tried to get authorization to upgrae us all, but there were too many other elite flyers on the flight. I am a Gold.
