Code share questions

Apologies if this has been asked before -- it probably has, but I can't find it.

If I fly on a CO coded flight operated by HP, can I still get WP miles/elite points? Does the upgrade policy still apply?

I believe that you can get WP miles, and miles toward elite status, provided that it was ticketed through continental, and not HP. So if it was issued as a CO ticket, you should get WP miles if that is what you choose to earn.

However if it was bought through HP, you would have to choose to receive either flightfund or onepass miles.

According to the NW web site, miles may be earned for "All Continental, Continental Express and Continental Micronesia operated flights." Accordingly, an HP-operated CO code-share would not qualify to earn NW miles.

It appears UpgradeMe is correct.

Interestingly, CO members can earn onepass miles for KLM operated NW codeshare flights, but NW WP members cannot earn WP miles for HP operated CO-codeshared flights.

I would like to see this in action, has anyone tried this. I wonder what would happen if you put in the WP# when you purchase the ticket. If not could it have someting to do with the agreement HP and NW have already which limits WP earning to:

"Flights between Phoenix/Las Vegas and Los Angeles/San Francisco when connecting on Northwest Airlines flights to/from Asia."

Flight fund earing on NW is limited to:

"Mileage credit is limited to transpacific itineraries, including Honolulu, and between Asia destinations. Mileage will not be awarded on domestic flights which are not part of a transpacific itinerary."
