Question about missing Platinum
As it stands right now I will be missing platinum by 2529 EQM. I have no projects scheduled for the end of the year (vaction) so it looks like I won't be getting it.
Would it be worth it to do one quick end of year mileage run?
What about challenging for plat? I had quite a few Y fare tickets this year. Everything I do is booked last minute.
Hello from a lurker, BTW. I read here quite often.

New Year's Eve in Hawaii? Fly in on the 31st, back on the 2nd or something? It might cost you but should be fun.

How much flying on NW (or SkyTeam) do you expect to do next year?

Go for PE
The only way to 'get it' is to fly the miles. From DTW, should be easy to find a good fare to the West Coast or LAS you could do in a few hours.
You will enjoy those FC upgrades coming in 5 days ahead for the next year!

DTW-LAX or SEA is generally a $340 turn around.
It depends on how much you will be flying next year. If you are goiing to be on a plane for more then 50K miles it is worth it for FC seating tha 3-8 extra times.

I will be flying even more next year than I did this year. I am looking to find a cheap mile run to make before year end. ^
Thanks guys.
Haha, I was just in Hawaii last week. And actually spent new years on Oahu two years ago.

I agree - go for it. Especially as a MSP flier. I can tell you first hand that my experience w/NW on all levels improved significantly when I went from GE to PE. Personally, based on my GE experience (not good), if I ever drop to GE again, I'll be looking to switch carriers. Granted, that is mainly because I fly heavy PE routes for 90%+ of my travel. Not that I'd get FC more often on another carrier, but their Y product is better.

Gotta do it, plenty of cheap flights still out there, just avoid the weather.
