The OP's idea and the ensuing responses reminded me of a scene from one of my favorite movies.

Otter:"Bluto's [insert "giggy's" if you like] right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these .......s. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part."
Bluto: "We're just the guys to do it."

The "security issue" reminds me of this post on the UA board:

And once you're inside the cockpit you could distract the pilot by offering to give him or her a manicure. And since terrorists don't fly first class, if we only let them use the restrooms at the back of the plane, we won't have this problem.

Find that interesting... on my flight yesterday, a gentlemen walked to the front lav (only 16 F pax on A-320), and tried the handle... after walking under the lit "occupied" sign on the bulkhead. He waited by the door, waiting for the pax to exit (by the port exit, not the cockpit door). Like he had a long walk when he saw the pax get out or the light go off...

Most pax are ignorant and unobservant. And afraid someone will get there first. This was the same flight that was 40 minutes late into DTW, and the FAs announced all the way over asking if people ending their travels in DTW to wait in their seats, while the connecting pax de-boarded. I was the only person in F who sat out until the first break in aisle traffic, to let the connecting pax off first.

Unfortunately, the it's all about me attitude has become so commonplace in our society that it has almost become acceptable. :td:

I still want to know where giggy gets the idea that FTers are only 1% of PAX

Inquiring minds want to know.

Dont toss out something like that without backup

If only 1 of us did this on each flight, NW would have to haul away 12,000 pounds of phone books a day :D BTW In Minn. Phone book recycling is the law and mandatory. How ya like dem apples doug?

Sounds like this was inspired by the Clinton White House staffers who pried all the Ws off the WH computer keyboards on their last day. :p

Was that before or after they moved out 1/2 the furniture?

I think that's actually a rumor that the Bush administration made up.

No it's not a rumor, it's a fact. The vandalism didn't stop at removing the 'W' key either. Over 100 keyboards were damaged beyond repair and needed to be replaced.

I could believe we're only a small % of pax...however what he/she doesn't seem to understand is we're a much larger % of revenue

Also don't forget the history of the poster....been on FT for less than a month and only 100 posts (most of which might be categorized as neg about nwa)

you know nothing about me. Does 5000 posts on a silly website make you an expert? Larger percentage of revenue? what a joke. Most very high rev pax dont even care about points or miles, just the ability to get from a to b with no hassle and no change fees. Get a grip. As for my neg comments about NW. Ive got 900,000 lifetime miles on them. Ive watched a decent world carrier be reduced to a joke. What do you expect, someone to just say how great NW has become?

Hey, there's other carriers we'd be happy to see you use :D
