Composition of first class Fancy Nut Mix has changed

Flying DTW-DCA this afternoon with an upgrade I started eating my Fancy Nut Mix and it seemed different, but I wasn't quite sure how. I took the empty bag home with me and compared it to a bag from a flight a few weeks ago that I hadn't eaten.

Ingredients:
Few weeks ago
Cashews and almonds roasted in soybean and/or canola oil, salt, honey roasted sesame sticks... (lots of ingredients in multple parenteses).

Today
Cashews roasted in soybean and/or canola oil, salt, soybeans roasted in soybean and/or canola oil, salt, and then it goes on with the sesame sticks....

The weight of the bag is 33% greater -- 28 g versus 21 g in the old mix. Calories now 160 versus 120 before. And protein is up 67%, froim 3 g to 5 g.

We can even buy these on the King Nut www site -- $4.99 for 10 1 oz. bags -- sold as (New!) Northwest Fancy Nut Mix with a note that This new product is on "rotation"-it will change every several months.

You have way too much time on your hands. :)

I prefer the new mix. More nuts less other stuff.

If you count soybeans as nuts....I guess so....

Yeah I was wondering about that - I'm glad you verified that it was a change.

When are the Mini-Pretzels and Fancy Niuts on Domestic FC going to be rotated?

The mini-pretzels and fancy nut Tidbits on domestic FC haven't been rotated in awhile.

I know I'm getting a little tired of them, maybe NW is planning to introduce something new this spring for domestic FC.

So that's what those things are. They're quite disgusting, even if they are more nutritious. Does anybody taste this stuff before they put it in front of their best customers?

One man's disgusting is another man's preference. I kinda like em.

I like the Fancy Nut Mix too. Hope the 'new' one is as good as the old one. I agree with RC, they should change things more often and offer at least a snack basket on the DTW-East Coast flights  .

I'm a big fan of the Fancy Nuts. It beats Spinzels any day, hands down. Of course, nothing will top the snacks over on DL. But then you actually have to fly DL to get them. :(

Either way, you are eating a lot of genetically modified food products. :td:

I would prefer dried fruit vs. pretzels

I wish NW offered a dried fruit tidbit. Maybe they will the next todbit rotation.

NO ALMONDS! OH NO!!

So some dried fruit might be nice, so fiber for you biz men and women.

Well I suppose having a rotating snack is good, keeps things different and some variety.

Now do you think they'll change from the Baked Apple granola bar flavor to ANY other flavor in our lifetimes???

(I also have too much time on my hands....) :D

It's funny. I wasn't sure if they had infact changed the composition. I thought to myself on a recent DTW>DCA>DTW trip, that there were indeed soy nuts in there. But then I thought to myself, well, maybe they were in there all along.

I like the sesame sticks... I could take a whole bag of those ^
