Say you're a frequent flyer, travelling every week (52 trips a year). Most carriers will give you 52,000 bonus miles simply for buying your tickets at their website (52 x 1,000) and doing nothing more. NW, on the other hand, does not give such a simple, online bonus. Instead, NW has these wacky lump-sum promotions where people have to do a variety of tasks (credit card, idines, ticket purchases, remember to check-in at a kiosk, etc.), to get 10K here or 10K there. While it's nice to see that lump sum bonus credit, I'd rather have the much easier 1K weekly. |
The loss of M-fare upgrades to Asia, and the substantial increase in award mileage for WBC to Europe and Asia are just flat out negatives in a market that is otherwise improving their programs.
In addition, the promos are pointless if not outright deceptive since now the extra miles people have earned have made NW decide to devalue all miles! I had really expected to not be flying so much this year, and so I stayed with NW. Under the cold light of day, and doing more flying, I wish I had switched to virtually ANY other program. Steve |
OAG - another place to vote

I will thank NW for not doing the 50% EQM's on their cheap fares. That is good.
What is bad was the insane jump to 200k for a FC award to Oz. That was insanity. A 43% increase in the amount of miles needed is just over the top. I had planned to put a trip together next year, but it will take a fair bit longer to get the family's tickets. This increase is just beyond reasonable when the only other people in the industry to do something as bad (actually worse) is BA. This one just did not pass the "choke/gag" test. It is too difficult to swallow. |
I would vote for NW after hell freezes over
As a long-term Platinum elite (and Gold before that) I believe NW has only done things to devalue the program over the last few years. I have only been disappointed ... why would I vote for them. The problem is that is a major issue to switch with so many miles. If I could be assured of Platinum Executive on AA, I'd switch in a heartbeat.

Me too - NWA has followed the wrong path - and frankly they are moving over to the Dark Side of FF programs.
