Keep in mind some Danish businesses will either charge extra for using a credit card (3 to 5% usually) or give a discount for cash - we saw this detail on the menu of 7 or 8 different restaurants in Copenhagen, and in a couple independent shops. Depending on your bank's fees, it might be worthwhile to get $75 from an ATM in Danish currency - buses, Tivoli, meals could easily total that for a day.

Thanks for the info. However since we both eat only special foods we wont be hitting any restaurants. Our hotel is free, so our expenses will be transport to/from the airport (doing a r/t the same day), Tivloi and water (which we can probably get a few bottles off the plane at that. Its gonna be basically a walking around to just see the place.

As one who lives on a strict gluten-free diet, and has a child with multiple foods allergies, may I ask what you eat? I'm always interested in how others with special dietary needs handle them while traveling.

You can purchase the Copenhagen Card at the hotel services desk in Terminal 3. Once you leave bagage claim and costums, its at the left side of the terminal.

This practice is in fact not legal anymore . Taxis would also add a 2% extra charge if you paid by creditcard, to cover the commision . But from July 1st this year there has been a change in consumer law, that does not allow businesses to add this extra charge.

Should be somewhere around 180 - 200 kr. (30-35$ or 24-27€).

That's great news and should help offset charges for those whose US credit cards seem to have hiked their charges for international use as of late.

CPH and CPH transport seems to have become even more tourist friendly as of late; for CPH airport to Malmo, paying (cash) on the train no longer results in an on-board ticket purchase surcharge. Is the same true for CPH airport to downtown?

I don´t think so - in fact you might end up with a fine of 500kr for not having a valid ticket ! At least thats how it works elsewhere on the metro transportation system.

Thanks for the warning. Sweden is a little friendlier on the trains with just a surcharge. CPH to Malmo thankfully got rid of even that surcharge on the trains. (The metro/subway in Stockholm is a different thing. :eek: )

Glad to hear that surcharge has been banned. Copenhagen was the only place I've seen it on restaurant menus, although I have seen it on hotel info in other countries (I believe it was Germany and Belgium both where we were encouraged to pay cash for a discounted rate).

I just hope places didn't raise prices to compensate.

Initially,there was quite a bit of whining in press from some of the businesses affected about how much it would cost them etc. But they will get over it.
