CPH to the City
Ill be in town for 15 hrs, we cashed in 10,000 pts for a room at The Scandic Copenhagen in order to shower and get a couple of hours nap.
Has anyone taken a bus to the city? how long does it take and what does it cost? Is the train a better deal and how much will that be? I heard 66 dk for a round-trip anyone know if theres a deal if you do it the same day ? Any info would be most appreciated. |
I took a bus some years ago - I have a vague recollection that it may have been marginally cheaper than the train but I don't think there was a lot in it.
Last time I was there I took the train, and like you I was staying at the Scandic. It's a good ten minute walk from the station - quote do-able with a small amount of luggage but not if you're carrying a lot. You may find this site useful: http://www.toandfrom.org/airport/copenhagen.html (toandfrom.org is a useful reference site generally!) |

For the past 3 years Ive been taking the bus, I go to Golders Green Station and catch the 13 into town, Still the old RoadMasters Buses. I love being able to look out and see the place. The tube would take only alittle less time. This way its I think now 3 gbp for a day pass on the buses, less than a TC 1-4 and for me at least alot more Enjoyable. So I thought with a bus we'd be able to see more of the city. and save alittle at the sametime, when at CPH. Can I get by using my US issued CC, since its 1 day in CPH, that night in Gothenburg then driving to Zuerich, Id hate to constantly have to change into local currency and have it left over. I know that a CC will run me an extra 2-3 % on fees but it would more than offset having Local currency left over. Maybe Ill fine a Machine that gives Euros but same problem. Into CPH on 8/1 out of Zuerich on 8/4 |

Its the same price whether use bus or train to the city, but the most convenient for you will probably be the train. But the double dekker 250S express bus that goes by the main station is not too bad either - it offers a bit of sightseeing on the way as well. Current price is 25.5 kr . (That about 3.5 €) See also: http://www.cph.dk/CPH/UK/MAIN/Getting+Here/ |

Thanks for mentioning the 250S, at least now Ill know what to look for. Can I use my US Credit Card to buy bus tkts? and where? |
the most pleasant part of CPH is the Stroget street in the city centre, which is pedestrianised, so you'll actually have to get of the bus to enjoy that..

Changing at expensive airport or train station FOREX works. |

Can I use my US Credit Card to buy bus tkts? and where? From there its probably a 10 min walk or so to the Copenhagen Scandic. |
Keep in mind the option of the Copenhagen Card (which can be bought with a credit card):
In the Greater Copenhagen area you can transfer freely between buses, Metro, trains and the yellow "harbour bus" using the same tickets and discount cards. Ordinary basic tickets can be purchased from vending machines at stations, ticket offices and on buses from the driver. Alternatively you can purchase a Copenhagen Card which is valid for any travel in the Greater Copenhagen area. There are two types: valid 24 hours or valid 72 hours. |
This link is better for a sort of one-stop shop on getting around:

It seems like the Hilton Copenhagen Airport hotel sells the Copenhagen Card. It's right outside the airport building (walkable); just follow the sign or ask someone. (When exiting "baggage claim", go straight ahead and slightly to the right, past the DSB/train ticket sales booth, and then exit the doors on the right at the end of the airport building. The Hilton is just outside.)

Since the ScandicCPH is very well located we wont need any inner transport other than our feet.

Keep in mind some Danish businesses will either charge extra for using a credit card (3 to 5% usually) or give a discount for cash - we saw this detail on the menu of 7 or 8 different restaurants in Copenhagen, and in a couple independent shops. Depending on your bank's fees, it might be worthwhile to get $75 from an ATM in Danish currency - buses, Tivoli, meals could easily total that for a day.

Its gonna be basically a walking around to just see the place.
As one who lives on a strict gluten-free diet, and has a child with multiple foods allergies, may I ask what you eat? I'm always interested in how others with special dietary needs handle them while traveling. |

Does anybody know the price for a cab from the airport to city center?
Husband has to go there soon for business and I'll join him, since I have never visited Copenhagen. |

CPH and CPH transport seems to have become even more tourist friendly as of late; for CPH airport to Malmo, paying (cash) on the train no longer results in an on-board ticket purchase surcharge. Is the same true for CPH airport to downtown? |

I just hope places didn't raise prices to compensate. |

Do the Copenhagen Card or the 24-hour transit pass include access to the train to and from Malmö? (I assume it does include the airport train to and from the main station)?
Also, is Hovedbanegården, Tivoli the closest bus stop to the train station? If so, does anyone know exactly where this stop is in relation to the station itself? Thanks for your help! |
Sorry, duplicate

Thanks for your help! http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/tourist/what_to_see_and_do/cphcard/what's_included I don´t know if you have got some names mixed up. The "Hovedbanegården" means "Main Station" in Danish, and its right next to the Tivoli gardens. Or did I misunderstand you ? |

I plan to go out to the Operean the day before my scheduled performance to get some photos, so I will have a chance to locate the stops (unfortunately the guided tours of the interior of the theater are only given on weekends) :( Thanks again, cph_flyer for your invaluable help :) ^ |
Just got back from CPH. Used the Copenhagen Card for all transit. To get to Malmo, we paid about an extra $10 each way (I think it was 120KR round trip).
