Well, I once had to clear Customs & Immigration at ATL on a nonstop flight from DFW. But that's another story. :D

JFK getting from Terminal 4 to Terminal 5

You'll have to take the AirTrain. It runs outside security, so yes. You'll have to reclear security. Unless there's a airside bus, I don't know about.

HI - hope you can give me the most recent information.
We have a JetBlue flight taking off from Terminal 5.
For the first time ever, I have Priority Pass lounge access to the Wingtips Lounge in Terminal 4, which we would like to do.
How would we get to T5 from T4 and how long should it take?
Will we need to clear security in both terminals?
Thank you

You will have to clear security twice.

After leaving the lounge, follow the signs to exit the terminal and to the AirTrain. At the AirTrain, take either a Jamaica or Howard Beach train one stop to Terminal 5. (There is another train that just connects the terminals, but it runs in the opposite direction, which will add 10 minutes to the trip.)

Figure 20 minutes from the time you leave the lounge until you get to the security area at T5. It's only one stop on the AirTrain but there's some walking to be done on both ends.

Hmm, wasn't there a Priority Pass lounge in T5? Aspire or something? Don't see it listed now.

I think clearing security twice just to visit the Wingtips lounge is an utter waste of time, especially if you don't have PreCheck. Not to mention they often close the lounge off to Priority Pass at peak times, particularly afternoon/evening.

T5 is a fine terminal with good restaurants and lots of variety, you'll be much better off there IMO.

Agreed. Unless you're talking about a LONG layover (4 hours at minimum), I would avoid the hassle.

It actually didn't sound like the poster had any layover, but was rather originating JFK.

Oops, missed that. To rephrase: to arrive at the airport extra early and go through security twice in order to go to a lounge is, in my opinion, not a good idea.

Well, I mean, there are some lounges where I think it would be worthwhile. :)
But absolutely not this one, in this case.

Maybe the VS Clubhouse at LHR. Also, depends on how you'd spend the time otherwise.

AmEx PLT (or $25) gets you in but not PPass.

Also a roof deck/outdoor space, two kids play areas, decent views, etc.

Recently I spent the morning in Paris and then got to the Air France La Premiere lounge about 3-4 hours before the flight (for my massage appointment and a late lunch). I didn't regret that choice. :D (While j'adore Paris I've been there a bunch of times).

VS at LHR probably not bad idea and probably one of the few business class lounges I'd do that for (though I haven't been there in ~8 years). There are a good handful of F lounges too (AF as above, LH in FRA/MUC, LX in ZRH, CX Pier in HKG, maybe QF in LAX (probably QF in SYD/MEL but I haven't been)) though generally I'd only plan enough advance time for a leisurely meal.

But a pay-for-entry lounge in a US airport? Bwwahha! :)
