Thank you so much.
Reporting back. The college student made the transit in BOS with extra minutes for a quick breakfast :) Appreciate your time! |
BOS Terminal E to B Transfers
When transferring from an arriving International flight at Terminal E to a departure from Terminal B, is there a belt to recheck luggage at Terminal E or do you have to take your bags to Terminal B and re-check with AA?
|
Last I checked, the recheck desk next to the exit from customs in E is for AA only. You should be good to go.

Bumping this thread.
Planning on taking an early morning flight BOS-JFK next month. Wondering if I can access the BA lounge at terminal E before this domestic AA flight from Terminal B — clear security at E and then use the lounge and get to B somehow for boarding. I am OWE (BA Gold). I assume BOS only has an Admirals Club and not a flagship lounge for AA itself. Or would it be worth exploring Alaska Airline’s lounge or any other oneWorld lounge there instead? |

What time is your flight and how early do you plan to arrive at the airport?

8am flight — and arrival time at BOS will depend on what’s worth visiting and the food/drinks likely to be on offer

AFAIK, the BA lounge in E closes for a couple of hours in the morning. The Oneworld lounge finder confirms, closes at 7am, reopens at 9am: https://www.oneworld.com/airport-lounges?location=BOS
Personally, I don't think it's worth it either way, even if you did get there at 6 - keep in mind, Terminal E doesn't have pre-check in the morning when you'll be there. Logan has some decent food options. Even in the morning, I'd prefer to go sit down at Legal Seafoods over clearing security twice. |
Two things to note:
1. There is now a B-C airside connector and as a result, you can make the (long) trek airside from E to B (there has long been an airside E-C connection). 2. You may be able to use pre to get thru security at C to get over to E in the morning. I've heard there is pre- light at E in the morning but I haven't used it myself. |

That's a good point, but that is a hell of an airside walk to go C -> E -> B if your AA flight is leaving by the low B gates near the AA check-in and Admirals Club! The airside connector is only on the high B side, right? I'm pretty convinced that it'd be faster to go E to B via the parking garage and reclear security, even without precheck at E, in that scenario.

Agreed, but I think it's also kind of nuts to go two terminals over just to go to a lounge. 6:00 a.m.? Give me a Starbucks and I am GTG. (But, of course, to each his own...).

Oh 100%. Especially at Logan, where the terminals are not lacking for options.

I'm not sure which options don't suck, but still I wouldn't arrive early just to go to a lounge in another side of the airport, even though one can do so now (other than to/from Terminal A) without re-clearing security.

Just for kicks, I measured (in Google Maps, so not 100% accurate as it doesn't reflect all of the recent changes) the post-security walking distance from roughly the Terminal E main checkpoint, to the center of the AA side of terminal B (roughly where the main AA side checkpoint would deposit you. It's about 1.1 miles!
On the plus side, if you're someone like me who likes to get some walking in before a long time sitting, you've no doubt got close to 2 miles of concourses and corridors available, with more to come when E expands again. The 1.1 miles doesn't count going out the smaller piers like the two halves of C or the WN/AS section of B. |
