Resurrecting this thread with a request for Florida stone crab in a nicer setting around Boston, all you can eat is best, but will take ala carte if reasonably priced.

No name closed a couple of years ago. Too bad. Great food at reasonable prices/
|
No Name ceased to be good around 1990. After that it was just a miserable tourist trap. Good riddance.

AYCE Seafood isn't something you see much in the Boston area, except maybe at an Asian buffet, and again, I don't ever recall seeing Stone Crab there. Maybe at the Nordic Lodge in Connecticut near the casinos? |
I still swear by the Atlantic Fish Company on Boylston. It's been 14 months since my last meal there sadly but they make the best lobster fra diablo I've ever had.
|
Well if you intend on having another meal there next week, I don't see it on the menu anymore.

My friend recommended legal sea foods and I plan to try it next time I go to Boston
|
Legal is pretty solid. They have a few locations around the city, and they also have locations at the airport in Terminals A, B, and C.

Legal Sea Foods was great 40 years ago. It was solid 20 years ago. Now it’s neither IMHO.

I would say it's fine if you're at the airport. Otherwise I tend to agree with you.

Pier 6 Charlestown
I didn't really plan to be in Boston (Charlestown) a couple of weeks ago, but went looking for seafood while there, punched "Restaurant” into the GPS and found Pier 6 less than a mile away.
It was a solid "Good" on a scale of poor/fair/good/exceptional with the latter being very very rare. OB Disclaimers: Not associated with this or any other restaurant. This was one “pre-season” visit so your experience could be different. Location/Contact information: Pier 6 Boston, 8th St Charlestown, MA 02129 https://www.pier6boston.com They are on [Amex] resy. Watching Planes: Location is about 2 miles from Logan but buildings may obscure views of landing and takeoff depending on runway in use. View of water/harbor is much better. Photo: View back to Boston. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7afc28c665.jpg View from Pier 6 Charlestown, back towards Boston |

I only get to BOS maybe once a year anymore, but it isn't even a place that would be on my radar screen to go to eat. I've heard about Pescador, in Kenmore Square, any insights into it? My usual go to's are, Island Creek for finer dining, Neptune Oyster for great casual seafood, James Hook for a lobster roll. For clams specifically, a drive up to Essex or Gloucester. |

Was Legal even solid 20 years ago? I'm asking seriously, because the last time I ate there was probably 30 years ago. Even then, it seemed corporate and "tourist trappy".

FWIW, I was never a huge fan of Island Creek — clearly I was in the minority — but they’ve closed. I haven’t been, but I’ve heard that Ostra now is the place to go for an elegant seafood dinner. I, too, love going to Essex for clams. Farnham’s is my location of choice. I was last there in October, and even though it’s the off season I thought it was great. |
Legal Harborside is their Flagship restaurant and it was special up until the chain got sold. It took a couple years to recover but recent reports have been pretty positive. Other than there the only Legal's I've been to in the past decade is the C Bar in Dedham, which was always pretty good.
Row 34 is my Go To for Seafood when we are in Boston |
