Priority Pass

Do the airport lounges ask for any reason to match the priority pass name with ID when using it, or do you just swipe the card or whatever?

Airports in question would be LHR IST and if I'm a wreck ORD.

clacko Mar 19, 2009 2:04 pm

i don't know about priority pass, but the admirals club wants an id for us members unless we have a j class boarding card....good luck...

Diplomatico Mar 19, 2009 2:06 pm

Never got asked for an ID when using PP...did get asked for a boarding pass a few times, though.

jb831 Mar 19, 2009 2:07 pm

Same as Diplomatico.

silam Mar 19, 2009 2:16 pm

They check to make sure of airlines or for names?

Just curious as I now have 2 of these memberships and one has some free stays on it which I was hoping a traveling companion could use.

And they are both in my name, I do not share last names with my the other individual

bruceba Mar 19, 2009 2:25 pm

PC at EWR and FLL always ask for my Photo ID
AS they should.

vike Mar 19, 2009 3:01 pm

Just used the pass twice -- DFW and HNL. Neither time was I asked for ID.

I had 2 free stays so I thought I could use one for my traveling companion, but I got a $27 charge on my statement. They told me the free use is only for the member.

doing a search will turn up this extensive Priority Pass thread

I have two seperate memberships, and two cards. Therefore, this does not apply.

I can always take the charge I guess, but if I have free stays I don't need and won't use, I'd prefer to not pay

I used PP about 60 times last year, a lot on Co and NW,

and they mostly do check IDs.

EasternTraveler Mar 20, 2009 2:31 pm

I have loaned my card out several times and none of them have gotten to use it. They always check.

When I use it, they have sometimes just matched the name on the boarding pass and sometimes have asked for ID. When they ask for an ID seperate from the boarding pass, I show them the passport.

EasternTraveler Mar 20, 2009 2:39 pm

My wife went to the BA lounge at LHR ahead of me one evening while I was dealing with an issue at CS. They said "You are not authorized to use this card, we are confiscating it and returning it to Priority Pass." Lucky me I had an extra.

brennajm Mar 30, 2009 12:01 pm

Every time I have used my Priority Pass, I have been charged. Some of you are implying you do not get charged so why am I being charged? Any clues? Are there perhaps different levels of subscription/does it depend on the airport used/??

Very easy. I assume that you have just a basic membership that does not include any visits yet.

The variations are:

Basic Membership - Each Visit 15 GBP
Standard Membership - 10 Visits free / 15 GBP after that
Premium Membership - Unlimited Visits -> Now here it really varies because some people get charged for guests and some dont. Often the PP is included with credit cards that have seperate agreements with the operator etc.

Generally, no ID check. However, I been asked for boarding pass. Are you thinking to use someone else's card?

Boraxo Mar 30, 2009 5:37 pm

Attention MOD: Can we tack this to the existing master thread?

I have not been asked to show ID by either CO or DL, however YMMV.

ZapperO Mar 31, 2009 10:15 pm

I get my PP with three visits per year for free through my Citi Amex Plat card. Every time I've used it in the last two years I've been asked for a boarding pass but never an ID.

DBCme Apr 5, 2009 4:08 pm

Asked 2 of the 3 times I've used NW/CO lounges.

Is that a Citi AA Amex platinum or a separate Citi Card?
I did not get any Pass with my AA amex from Citi

tdelahoz Apr 30, 2009 7:53 pm

I use my priority pass card weekly at the Denver RCC's and have never been asked for a boarding pass or photo ID in addition to my membership card

bostonbali Apr 30, 2009 9:11 pm

I am always surprised to hear that my mom is QUITE often able to use my dad's PP card. She's never been denied. This is in European lounges. I believe this would not work at NW WorldClubs.

it is accepted at the CO lounge, which isn't TOO far away. and since the terminals are joined somewhat, you only need to go through security once.

Maybe I have a dishonest look, but I've always been asked for boarding pass or ID @ Nashville Delta, Phl UsAir.

HCA May 10, 2009 12:08 am

I remember most of the time I used my Priority Pass, I had been asked either for ID or Boarding Pass.
Sample airports: SFO, ORD, LHR, TPE, PVG, TXL..

I don't know why they'd ask for a boarding pass, as unlike the American Express Platinum/Centurion access benefit, Priority Pass lounge access does not require a same-day flight on the carrier operating the lounge. As long as you can get yourself to the club entrance, you can get in with a Priority Pass.

Yes, it is, at the CO President's Club. Terminal 6.

I use Priority Pass and get asked for a boarding pass most of the time. Once in a rare while, I only need to check in to a lounge with my Priority Pass card. I've never tried entering without a boarding pass. My very basic suspicion is that the airline clubs like the UA RCC, or CO PC ask as a standard procedure, as they are used to keeping track of gate info for their UA or CO members. In non-affiliated clubs, I have been asked for my boarding pass, and the attendant has given me notice that my flight is boarding soon. But I can't say for sure why I get asked for the boarding pass, and what would happen if I didn't have one.

uavking May 12, 2009 5:52 pm

I used to have PP and used clubs several times without traveling. Of course, YMMV.

Cumulo Nimbus May 12, 2009 10:36 pm

boarding pass or Amex?

I have the highest level PP thru Plat Amex. I was asked for my boarding pass at one of the lounges at LHR (can't recall which one, T3, upstairs, pretty small, Iberia maybe?) recently and duly handed it over, but I thought afterwards that according to Amex, I needed only show my PP and Plat card. I wasn't asked to show the Amex at all.

Jenbel May 13, 2009 3:58 am

I'm always asked for a BP in the UK.

Well my PP is just fine, had it checked the other day. Doc said everything looked good. Will be a while before I have to pee in that cup again. Glad flying hasn't taken my PP away. :D

I really am glad I was not there when you showed your PP, disgusting.

You generally only need to show the PPass card; the AmEx is irrelevant at that point. Or, in lounges in the USA (DL/CO/NW/AA) you can show the AmEx and a BP for access the same as showing the PPass card.

Why would they care about boarding pass???

They don't need to, but many lounges are just so used to asking for it that they ask everyone. Even without one I'm sure access would be granted.
