Tracking mileage/hotel points
??Somewhere?? I saw a listing for websites which would help keep track of all my points, etc. Looked in Search - 0 replies.
Any help?? |
There's an article in the September 2003 Inside Flyer discussing the various programs to track miles and points.

Mile Tracker is great--super easy to use, allows you to track your accounts as well as spouse's, etc., and frequently updated. Aside from Palm software, literally the computer program I can't live without!
|
Ditto regarding the donation! Mike does an OUTSTANDING job with this free program. I have 48 air and hotel programs being tracked and everyday I update and check against my points due. Before MileTracker it was pen and paper.
|
I second the motion that this is the BEST thing! It's free (but we need to donate to help keep it alive) I just did thanks to this thread reminder. I was just thinking about my daily computer ritual when I get home from work.
yahoo: clean out my junk email inbox miletracker: see what posted Flyertalk thru miletracker: to check on the latest promos under whatever program i'm into at the moment. It's about a 20 to 30 min routine I go through each afternoon when I get home from work. [This message has been edited by T Q (edited Jan 25, 2004).] |
The buzz around the AC forum is Yodlee. Also tracks logins to other sites like eBay and whatnot, but its a little too techy in terms of adding new accounts, and its not 100% user friendly, but another option out there.

I use miletracker and its great. If only I could figure out how to get Hilton to work on it, it would be perfect.

Jay,
I am able to track my Hilton points without problem. I know it's pretty basic, but have you checked to make sure your account number and pin are correct? I had a typo in my email address on another rewards program and really had to look hard to find the error. Good luck! Kate |
Hilton works fine for me, also.

Mile Tracker is very good. One small frustration: I have never been able to make it work for Korean Air. I've written in (via the Miletracker program)twice about this but never gotten a response. Has anybody out there succesfully tracked his Korean Air mileage with Miletracker?
------------------ |
One of the things that I have noticed with Miletracker is that some FF programs (like United) require the "leading zeros". I have to add two to my United number and one to my wife's. As to Hilton, all of our numbers work (nine digits). Can't help on Korean. You might look at their webpage (after you have sign on) and see how they list your number.
(Remember...these are zeros added before, not after, your number!) ------------------ "I was once dissappointed that I didn't get an upgrade, then I saw a homeless man without shoes. Somehow, the upgrade didn't seem all that important." |
Based on this Forum, I downloaded Miletracker last night and loaded my 18 accts. WOW, is this ever simple AND useful!!!! Took about 10 minutes to load everything, and after a couple of edits to correct my poor typing, every one worked like a champ!!!! Sent a donation today!!! Thanks, FlyerTalk!!!

I downloaded this program....but it doesn't give me a summary of all my points balance http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
Anyone know what my problem is? If I click on "autonavigate", it takes me automatically to my FF webpage....so this part seems to work fine! I run Windows 98 with IE 5 if that helps http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Thanks ------------------ kpc |

Oh, and I have 15+ mileage/points programs in there too. Price: $0 |
Now, if only there was an iDine multi-program tracker. Let's see, one month I need 8 AA iDines for 2000 bonus miles, meanwhile every month 3 NWA iDines for either 250 or 500 bonus miles, then various UA promos that constantly change (but in general in 2004 25% bonus on every UA iDine if I did the qualification ok), then once I get status at AA 3 AA iDines every month for 500 bonus miles. Then many of my favorite iDine restaurants are 1 visit per month per program, so those I need to rotate among the programs, but do that with all the above bonus earnings in mind.
To me, keeping track of how to optimize all this is much harder than the underlying Frequent Flyer and Frequent Stay programs. But I've not heard of a tracker for all the iDine-based programs (all of which, btw, I have to log into an airline-specific site rather than iDine proper). And will any of the mileage trackers let me put in the dates for my hotel stays, the "convenience factor" for each chain's hotel location, the rate for each chain's hotel, and then correlate that to the FF programs I belong to, the complex airline-hotel cross-promotions (like NWA's up to 200% bonus but only if you earn directly to miles), and then tell me how much I can earn in which program or where to stay each night if I want XX miles into this program and YY miles into that program? If it's not for these kinds of complex promos, I don't have a big problem managing miles/points manually. But boy, when everyone throws a complex promo -- each with completely different rules -- at me simultaneously and I have to balance them out (like HHonors Diamond in 10 stays about the same time as Priority Club 10k + 7.5k for 8 stays in a pair of months when it turned out I had exactly 18 stays to do, and then AA threw out 5k for one Starwood stay into the mix!), THAT'S what I need a tracker for. But that's not what I understand the trackers to be able to do. Just the stuff (like NORMAL earnings) that's comparatively easy to do manually. Am I wrong? |
Stefan--
Your post is hilarious. I think I'm going to print it out to give my assistant when she can't figure out why it takes me 30 minutes to figure out which hotel to stay in (based on bonuses, etc. as you discuss). I think there would be a market for some sort of help line-- 1-800-LUV-MILE so people could call and get advice from someone to find out which credit card to pay with, which restaurant to eat at, etc. |
based on the suggestions in this column i downloaded the miletracker software today. i like it a lot!
i told a friend about it and he suggested using yahoo's travel tracker. have any of you used yahoo to do this? any advantages/disadvantages? he likes it because it syncs with the other yahoo stuff he does, such as email, address book, etc. |
Is "Choice Privileges" in the program.
Didn't find it. |

Miletracker is the best thing next to buttered popcorn. It stores the info on YOUR computer.
As I recall, Yodlee does NOT. Personally, I'd rather have all of my account numbers on MY computer; not someone else's. That is also the reason why lots of credit unions said thanks but no thanks, to Yodlee. |
