I have a question on this. Can Mr. X - an un-related friend transfer his Continental miles to my Amtrak account, or do they have to be family members?
FYI - this has been a quiet discussion of late, but late last year I *did* move 15,000 of my Continental and 10,000 of my wife's continental miles to my Amtrak account and then on to my United Account for effectively one free ticket "created" out of nothing. It was very easy, and went though quickly. Thanks for the tip! |

Amtrak transfers allow you to move pretty much any airline into United miles. YX: transfer your miles -->; Amtrak --> United. I'm cross posting this to the Midwest Forum as I believe the answer may come from either location - shoot me. |
my wife has 16,000+ Singapore Airlines miles.
I have about 5,800. Can these be transferred to Amtrak at all? If so, we would put them onto our repsoective UAL accts. :)MM |
Thanks.

Oddly, while you can earn Midwest miles on YX or AA, you can earn AA miles only on AA -- not on YX. Don't know why this is, but have checked with both FF departments, and that is the case. |
Does amtrak match status or is there a way to get status on it without riding a lot?

:-( While just a beta-test release, you might want to play with this: http://www.webflyer.com/programs/mil...rter/index.php |
I just had a look at the site. its great Randy!
I tried to transfer some points into my partners account and they are now in cyberpace for about 2 weeks. I wonder what happened to them :( |
I just did the Amex -> CO -> Amtrak -> UA conversion. Works great. Did the first Amex -> CO transfer on Jul 2nd. CO -> Amtrak also completed on July 2nd. Amtrak -> UA completed today July 8th. 6 days total for 25000 Amex MR points to become 25000 UA miles. Only cost incurred was $10 to Amex for the transfer to CO. They don't do it free. They charge .004 cents per point transferred so 25000 points is $10. Well worth it if you ask me. Too bad can only do 25000 because of Amtraks limitation. Yes I know if you have a certain level in Amtraks program you can do 50000.
WORKS GREAT!!!!! |
Transfer Amtrak to UA?
I transferred 25,000 miles from CO to AMTRAK. Now I am ready to transfer my miles from AMTRAK to United Mileage Plus. I couldn't find any place on the AMTRAK website that lets you transfer the miles. I can REDEEM the miles, but not transfer them. I was hesitant to complete that transaction. When I selected that option, it shows the miles going into a 'Shopping Cart" and it says that I will receive my miles in the mail once I submit my request. Is that correct? I was thinking I could just online transfer the miles directly to UA Mileage Plus. Did I overlook something in the threads on how to transfer these directly into one's UA account? Thanks for any input/advise.

Ignore the whole mail thing.
It's an online transaction. You are REDEEMING your Amtrak points for United miles. You give them your United mileage plus number. Say that you do this transaction on Monday morning, your miles probably post to United ~ late Friday pm IIRC. Go for it... |
I just transferred 25000 miles from Continental to Amtrak by calling Continental a few weeks ago. They posted to my Amtrak account within a week. As soon as they posted, I redeemed them online for 5 5000 United miles. I got a letter in the mail from Amtrak telling me that it would take 6-8 weeks, but the miles posted to United within a few days.
