Hi, I just tried to transfer my AA miles to Midwest, and they said I couldn't do it. On Gleff's post when he says:
"AA: credit your miles to Midwest and transfer Midwest --> Amtrak --> United" Does he mean, when you take a new flight you tell them to put those miles on your Midwest account? So it's only good for future stuff. Are there any of these other ones that you can transfer existing miles into CO or Amtrak, and thus United? Feeling like it might have been to good to be true..... |

The only way I can think of to get existing AA miles into a UA account is to convert them to Diners Club points (you need a Diners Club credit card) and from there you can convert Diners Club points into United miles.
You'll suffer a 50% devaluation in the process. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif |
Almost to United. I transfered the points from CO on Wednesday and they showed up on Monday in Amtrak. Now we'll see how long before the points show in United.

Similarly, Can I do a UA->Amtrak->CO??

This is a great way to use orphaned miles. We have consolidated orphaned miles from all family members accts.in Amtrak and then sent out to just one UA acct. We then took the UA miles and sent through DC to BA.

Can I transfer points from a single Continental account to multiple Amtrak accounts?
For example, lets say I want to move 50,000 continental miles. Can I transfer 25,000 to my own Amtrak account and 25,000 to my spouse's Amtrak account? Also, am I right in thinking that there is no limit to the number of miles I can transfer from Continental into Amtrak. (I understand there is a limit on transferring out of Amtrak accounts.) Thanks, DAK |

I transferred 25K miles from CO to Amtrak last Tuesday. They showed up in my Amtrak account today, and I ordered the 25K miles for my UA account.
Can anyone who's done this tell me how long that transfer takes? Thanks! |
If all goes according to plan they should post in your United account around 8pm Eastern this Friday evening.

Unless there is a screw-up in the transfer like there was in September. There are numerous posts about people who transfered in September still waiting for miles transferred to UA from Amtrak to post. I am one of them and it has now been 8 weeks and counting. Talked to a supervisor at Amtrak last week and she assured me she would get this worked out for me. I'm glad I wasn't planning on using the UA miles right away. Just trying to clear out my CO NONEPASS account like so many other people who cannot use their miles.
