I did a google news search of the 4500 publications they cover and nothing showed up. How many hits are we talking about? That might give an idea. Or a question on the site might answer it.
I think if you bump notification of your site daily it would be a benefit to the FT community. It's kinda like the FAQ's that many ask you to read before posting. As for this threading on commercial we see daily request for referrals and conogas that run into the hundreds on FT. It's all part of the fun. Keep up the good work I especially like the posting of recent additions in a seperate location. |
Sometimes a certain person from Australia is really an idiot ..... Glenn ??

Maybe it was just from the topic you posted on the 5th about miles for utility bills? If people clicked on your website from that posting - and maybe had never been there before - perhaps they are going back to your site to read through it?
I have used your website in the past and am grateful for the information you post there. I also appreciate the fact that you are honest about what benefits you will receive if someone uses some of the referrals on your site. I know there are other sites that are not as honest and there are also sometimes people who post on FlyerTalk who "forget" to mention they will receive XXX miles for every referral from links that they post. |
I would also like to thank pgary for the valuable info. on his site. He obviously has taken a great deal of time to develop this site, and it is appreciated by many. There are some things the moderators allow (e.g., FT's personally attacking other FT's) and should not. This is not one of those things.

Go to Google, advanced search, and then ask it to show you all the links that link to your page.
That may help figure it out. |
IIRC, the MSN page, (my home page) had a link to an article about maximizing ff mileage. At the end of the article there was a reference that allowed the reader to reach your site.

The thing I like about it is that it appeals to folks who have never collected miles & points, as well as providing useful info for people who have been collecting miles & points for many months or many years, IMHO. Also, I think it should be noted that referrals mentioned elsewhere in this thread are very few & far between on the site. Given the vast amount of offers listed on the site, the referrals represent a very, very small percentage of the information. I think it's about as far from being a commercial site as one can get. Gary Please do not allow the few negative remarks dissuade you from the OUTSTANDING job you do free of charge!! I have accumulated thousands of miles from your advise. THANK YOU and keep the great work.
|
I also appreciate and use Gary's site and think it was totally appropriate for him to pose here the question about increased number of visitors.

I like his website as well and don't see a commercial aspect, any referrals he is pretty upfront on.

I like the site.
But I believe that ozstamps asked a fair question. We have had discussion in the past over where to draw the line. |
Thank you for all of your support. I am not discouraged by the few negative comments I receive here, as this it the only place I receive them. An astonishing 100% of my email (lots) is supportive of what I do. (That's right, I have never received a negative email. Amazing!) Almost all take the time to thank me for my efforts, and many provide info that ends up on my site. Much of that email is sent to me by regular posters on this forum. That, plus that fact that the number of visitors is growing rapidly, makes me believe that I am doing something useful.

My S.O. sent me the article, but not the page that linked to it. The article itself quoted an old version of my intro page, but did not link to my site. (The author heard from me about that...) I guess the linking page is now gone. I couldn't find in on MSN, anyway. I had done Cordelli's suggestion of the reverse Google search, and I had intended to mention that on my original post. But that went the way of the link to my site. It was late, and I am getting older... Anyway, the MSN link might show up in Google in a month or two. ------------------ Free Frequent Flyer Miles |
