E-Trade and ClickRewards

Has anyone been successful in getting both the 2500 ClickReward points and the $50 new account bonus that E-Trade was offering? I signed up back in December when the 2500 point promo was on and then got an e-mail stating E-Trade would give me a new account bonus of $50. Now E-trade tells me that the "coding" on my account application indicated the application was not done through ClickRewards (it was). They are offering me a choice of either the points or the $$, but not both. I'm taking the points since I'll qualify for the 4500 extra points that ClickRewards was offering for two purchases by 12/30/98. Seems like a better deal than the $50. Anyone else had this problem?

Exactly the same thing happened to me. If forced to choose, I'll take the points (the same as you). But I did reply to E*Trade's canned email (which told me I could have either the points or the $50, but not both) and stated that the offer I received via an earlier email from E*Trade's CEO, wherein he offered $50 if I sent in my deposit, came at a time when E*Trade knew my on-line application (which triggered the CEO's offer) was done to qualify my for the ClickRewards promotion they were running. Therefore it appeared to me as if they were offering me an additional bonus. Suffice to say that I presented a case for receiving both bonuses. Maybe you could point out E*Trade's error to them as well, as that might help persuade them that they have other dissatisfied customers. I'll post something here if they provide me with any satisfaction on this point.

Yes, I received both; however, the $50 bonus only posted after I faxed(to 916-858-8989) e*trade a copy of the e-mail I received promising the $50 bonus. I faxed the request on January 4th and the bonus was posted on January 20th.

For all of you who signed up with Etrade over the past year or expect to sign up in the future, drop me an email at [email protected] and you will get a free trade ($20) in ADDITION to any other bonuses you may have gotten, posted to your account.

PS. Sorry to the UA folks for the double post. You should receive your free trade as a customer service credit in approx 3-6 weeks.

I got both the miles and the $50. I wasn't expecting the $50, it just showed up one day. Lucky me

For all of you who sent me an email about your free trade, it should be posted as a $19.95 Customer Service Credit. Look under Account Activity. Thanks and bring on more if you have multiple accounts.

As I noted under a related thread in the United forum, the $19.95 credit appeared on my e*trade statement today, a week after I sent vgrove the information. That's FAST!

Now I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop (and wondering what it is).

E-Trade is really ticking me off! They still have not credited me with the 2500 ClickReward points from the December promo (meaning I'm out 7000 miles since ClickRewards was offering a 4500 mile bonus). This is after three e-mails and two phone calls. The latest e-mail I got from them mentioned some kind of error on someone's part and stated the miles would post in 3 weeks (I don't believe a thing they tell me anymore).

Also, the new promo with UA is nice but difficult to use. Already having an individual account, I have to open a joint tenant account, a community property account, or a custodial account. I live alone and have no kids. I feel SOOOOO discriminated against! 10,000 UA miles and no way to get them!

Just an FYI...

The E*Trade promo for 10000 miles with UA is supposed to end on 3/19. I doubt that it will but those of you who have not taken advantage of it may want to as its relatively painless. At least applying was, now getting the miles, thats another story.
Plus, you could get $20 if you opened an account.

OMNI: I personally am very happy due to the high quality IPO's they have been providing lately.

Thanks Vishal for the credit to my E*Trade Accounts - I have passed the information along to family members - asnd will be in touch again, as soon as I have the account numbers, as I have just opened up 3 more accounts. The United miles are piling up!

And the United Miles offer for new accounts has been extended yet again (this time to April 16th).

The E-Trade ad in the current issue of Hemispheres (the UA in-flight magazine) says you need to respond by May 31, 1999 so my guess is that is the real (latest) end date.

And yes, I finally got my ClickReward points from the Holiday bonus promo with E-Trade (although it did take two additional e-mails to ClickRewards to straighten everything out)!
