OMNI: Boston Get Together: Postscript

I will let everyone who went to this fabulous party to fill in the details about what happened.

But I wanted to put a personal note to thank everyone for welcoming me into the group, for the great talk, laughs and friendships that only are now stronger from this.

We had a wonderful time, finished very late, and we also toasted and thought of all of you!

So thanks Baobab & NJDavid and Peter and Helen (Honorary FlyerTalk members!) and PremEx, Matt Wald, AnnaS, Kyelin, and MileCrazy for a very special evening and your very special and important gift of friendship!

OK: SO I'LL NEVER WRITE FOR HALLMARK!

how did you manage to have this Sunday's NY Times report on (your) Boston?

All the world wants to be where the FlyerTalkers are...

As it turned out, the attendees were:
Catman
Matt Wald
AnnaS
MileCrazy
PremEx
kyklin
NJDavid & wife
baobab & better half

... both BostonJudy and demeter were struck down by ill health: we hope that they will soon recover and be able to attend the next FT party.

The smaller group was able to fit around a single table, and we had a great time, both at the dinner and after. Many tales were exchanged, the wine (and champagne, thanks to ttm) flowed freely, and once the dinner was eaten and the restaurant was about to close, the brave among us [kyklin, Matt, AnnaS, MileCrazy, baobab/better half and PremEx] moved on to another establishment which stayed open until the wee hours. There we partook of some of PremEx's generously shared but jealously guarded Cubanos, which he had carried about in a small yellow travelling-humidor - all he needed was the handcuff connecting it to his wrist. After the cigars were done and the whiskies were supped, the wee hours were becoming alarmingly large... Anna and MileCrazy departed to find their formerly valet-parked cars and kyklin, Matt, PremEx and I and my better half piled into a taxi with a rather bemused driver whom we instructed to take us on a zig-zag course across the two cities (Cambridge/Boston) in order for each to return to his/her respective bed.

Of course, Catman hosted a brunch the following morning (thank you Catman) - but *he* had had the sense to go home to bed... waking up was difficult, but the brunch was worth it!

Sounds like a grand time was had by all!!! Hopefully there will be another "mini" get-together prior to P-I-P. And next time, I hope to be in attendance! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Yeah! Sounded like a ton of fun. I'd love to join the next one.

Hi Tim:

As one of the originators and participants at the Boston mini, I think this calls for another mini-gathering prior to the Party in Paradise!?!

How does June sound somewhere on the West Coast? Los Angeles seems to the most ideal location for many of the FTs.

However, San Diego/La Jolla is also a good alternative-- the San Diego zoo would be particular good fit for those members with the names of animal as handle! Of course, there is also San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver... etc.

Anyone interested let me know!

Ken:
Sounds great! There are a bunch of us here on FT that are LA based, but I'm for any other place on the West as well.

Tim

ps. Vegas isn't that bad either...

Ricechex Mar 26, 1999 2:33 pm

I like the idea of San Diego.

BlondeBomber Mar 26, 1999 3:13 pm

How about San Losdiegas?

kyklin Mar 26, 1999 3:19 pm

Arturo: Las Vegas way too hot in June (95+ F!).

BTW, I picked June just in case if someone wants to host another mini-gathering prior to November (say in mid-USA, e.g. Chicago, Texas, or New Orleans?), that person will have some dates to work with. (Aren't we the partying bunch?) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

LA is good anytime! (All the LA members need to put our collective organization skills together and plan something.) Jazz Fest is the weekend of April 23 in New Orleans. Taste of Chicago is the week(end) before and including the weekend of the 4th of July. Texas? In the summer? DOH!

onefreeman Mar 26, 1999 3:54 pm

You're all welcome to come to Phoenix! It's only around 105 then -- but it's a dry heat...

Our vote goes for San Diego (it's our real home anyway). We're on Maui Jun 18-28 but any other time is just fine with us...

Can't wait to meet the most interesting group on the 'net...

NJDavid Mar 26, 1999 5:41 pm

Happy to offer again...

April 18th to 22 I'll be in Vegas for the National Association of Broadcasters Convention.

Lots of great parties mixed in amongst the conferences.....

Happy to meet up with anyone who's in town who wants to tag along for some of them...
