Is your question pertaining to referral companies or the insurance companies themselves? My reading of your question points me to the referral co's such as those who give you points for using their service to get you a participating real estate agent.

There's another thread going currently that talks about insurance co's that take cc's.

You are correct, Phoenix. I'm looking for an Insweb type service that offers a few thousand miles to serve as the quote engine and referral service to my new insurance provider. Just like a realtor referral service, a Carsdirect service, or a LendingTree-type service would. In the end, I still pick the insurance company I want, but I simply used the right middleman to earn miles.

Unfortunately, I suspect what I want doesn't exist, or FTers would have thoroughly dissected it within a week of it coming online. That's just how we are... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

As for an insurance company that lets me use a CC: I'm not as worried about that because it comes out of an escrow account. Yes, I know I could probably do something to change how all of that works with my mortgage, but for a few hundred miles a year, it's not worth the hassle... The one-time hassle of changing insurance companies is going to be a big enough pain as it is.

I was able to put my State Farm car insurance premium on VISA, but had to go thru my agent and pay an extra $2. Credit card wasn't an option on the payment coupon.

That's strange. My agent charged me nothing.

I just spoke with my State Farm agent. Effective 4/1, State Farm accepts credit card payments for auto insurance policies in Texas. No credit card surcharges. You need to pay through the agent by providing him/her with your Visa/MC #.

The agent was not sure if you could use it for other policies or in other states.

I have AAA car insurance and I use my c.c. to pay at the local branch office with no extra fees tacked on.

Granted this is of no use to most of you, but I put my Geovera earthquake insurance payments on my credit card. There's no fee, and they even let you set up a monthly payment plan where it automatically gets charged to your card without any finance charges.

GEICO auto takes cc but only over the phone. No extra fees and you can pay your monthly, quarterly semi-annual or annual bill. I'm not sure if they'll take cc for homeowners, renter's etc insurance.

State Farm in California is taking charges for my business, building, workman's comp and car insurance with no service charges.

Try registering all your policies online at their web site.

This is an old thread, but I wanted to add my two cents worth. I did some car insurance shopping/research recently, and the best deal I got was from AmEx, a fairly new program for "safe drivers" only. See the website. Saved a few hundred over State Farm and, of course, they offer to charge the premium to your AmEx card at no additional cost.

Magdalena-
What was the website for AmEx car insurance? What companies did you compare rates to?
Allstate does accept credit card payments through their online site, or through touch tone phone for ANY amount you want with no additional charges. Both are simple to use, either monthly, or semi annually. I've been doing it for about a year now, with no problems.

Thanks-

You can access it under "Financial Servies" on the main AmEx page. Again, I only mention it because I was able to get a such a good rate that beat out all the familiar companies and because you can charge directly onto your AmEx.

AmEx Insurance doesn't cover Massachusetts (my home state) and a number of other states. Here is a listing of states that they do cover:

I was also able to get the best rate through Amex. The other quotes I received were from State Farm, Allstate, AAA, and Geico.

I use AIG for my auto insurance and they accept AMEX, Visa and MC online or by automated phone for premium payments.
