Is it possible to post the actual URL or IP address of the page? There would be a lot less errors if we werent dependent on all DNSs being up to date.

Granted, this will not help your marketing, but for us elite, saavy flyer/browsers it would be great.

just tested again - ok. Go for it:

www.mileageworkshop.com

(and thank you MileageAddict).

Counsellor Feb 12, 1999 4:01 am

To get the IP number for a URL, go to your MS-DOS prompt, type the following (without the quote marks or the braces): "ping {URL}". So, if you want the IP for www.mileageworkshop.com, type (without quotes) "ping www.mileageworkshop.com".

I just tried it, and was told that's a bad address. Don't know why. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif Maybe because I'm outside the North American area?

Counsellor Feb 12, 1999 4:04 am

Rudi - you just got in from Europe and I couldn't from Asia. Hmmmm.

Just this moment tried again - same answer, bad address.

P.S. BTW, I'm using IE 4.0, and I think Rudi was using Netscape, right? Still, that shouldn't make a difference with the "ping" program.

I can reach the site from three different backbones. Seems to be working fine at least in the southwestern US. My only explanation is the router tables don't update all at the same time so the Asian ones are a few days behind?

Of course it could be a conspiracy by the major airlines to... oh never mind http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Rudi Feb 12, 1999 5:13 am

it is (for sure) not a URL problem. It worked fine for me an hour ago - I just tried again - but can't LOCATE the server now (but I can load it from my cache).

Ah the joys of being on a new server. http://www.stepnstones.net/mileage/ still works but is it being updated the same way as www.mileageworkshop.com. After being able to get on it regularly (even when others couldn't), I now cannot get on www.mileageworkshop.com at all.

I just did the pacific survey (2nd time). It will be interesting to see whether I get another 100 miles. Fair enough if I do as the information I input last time has changed and I shall be doing a few extra trips this year.

Ah yes, the quest for free travel continues...

cheers Peter

For the time being, you can reach the website one of three ways.

www.stepnstones.net/mileage

www.mileageworkshop.com

208.12.1.139

Hopefully, everyone will be able to access through the domain name in a few days. Geez, running a website can be a pain in the neck!

I had trouble logging in last night also from my hotel room in Bellingham, WA on my laptop, but this morning got right into the site.

Counsellor Feb 12, 1999 8:22 pm

Just tried the IP address, which worked great. Mighty Fine Site!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Then I tried the www.mileageworkshop.com address. Still considerd a bad address by the browser. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif Maybe the routers will update in a few days. I'll keep trying.

pberrett Feb 12, 1999 8:57 pm

I just got an email from United confirming that my survey submission had been accepted and that I would receive my free 1000 miles in the next 4-6 weeks.

Sweeeet

cheers Peter

I'm curious to know if anyone out there is still having access problems with the www.mileageworkshop.com web address?

After the first 10 days of the new domain name, I no longer received any email from frustrated visitors unable to access the website.

Counsellor Mar 2, 1999 3:34 am

Just tried it - got through fine.

And BTW, the "ping" says your IP is still the same.

BlondeBomber Mar 2, 1999 5:18 am

Have had no problems for last couple of weeks.
