When do you receive your Inside Flyer print edition?
I wasn't sure where to put this, this seemed like the best place.
I am in Canada and just received my September Inside Flyer magazine on Oct. 3. It is a little annoying since most of the offers and bonuses have already expired. When does everyone else receive their's? |
I'm in the U.S. and received my September issue the second week of September.
I was wondering about the timing too, had not gotten my OCT issue and was wondering if that was normal. Guess it is.
I too live in Canada and received September issue on September 27th. Noticed that the deals were largely reported in real time on FT which is okay given that I look in almost every day. For those who will rely solely on the mag, that is a downside...
Even so, it is a great read (and my wife has now discovered my new hobby) |
I got my October one yesterday..
I really do not understand the subscription fine print. Here goes...
U.S. Addresses FREQUENT FLYER PACKAGE - $59.95 USD Earn 3,000 bonus AAdvantage miles Receive 12 issues of InsideFlyer ($45) plus a copy of "The Official Frequent Flyer Guidebook" ($14.95) International Addresses FREQUENT FLYER PACKAGE - $59.95 USD Earn 3,000 bonus AAdvantage miles Receive 6 issues of InsideFlyer ($45) plus a copy of "The Official Frequent Flyer Guidebook" ($14.95) Then a few lines down: Members living outside of the U.S. and Canada will only receive InsideFlyer on a bi-monthly basis (6 issues) with our international program news enhanced editions I have a Canadian address. The first line tells me any non-US address will receive only 6 copies annually. So I should expect 6 copies. From the second, I gather that since I am living within "US and Canada", I will receive all of 12 copies. Am I missing something or has the cold outside today got into my head? After thought: please don't tell me we guys up north have suddenly become non-international, and all now have US-addresses [This message has been edited by maple (edited 10-04-2002).] |
Got mine yesterday.
I got October today and September around the same time of the month, but my August issue came at the very end of the month, just a few days before September's issue arrived.
My October issue arrived yesterday.
today
Got my September issue Oct.1
First issue (Sept., '02) arrived Oct. 1.
bj-21. |
Just took my Oct issue out of the mailbox and logged on to this thread! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
All the print is still the FINEST as in SMALL and LIGHT TYPE of any magazine I have and read to this day. Don't understand why there are not more subscribers complaining about it. Also the colored backgrounds made it a real challange to read with anything but the strongest lighting! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif |
I got my October edition today. I find the delivery schedule to be very erratic.
Mine arrived yesterday.
today

At my New York address, the October edition arrived today.
Got my Sept issue on Oct 2nd...still awaiting the Oct issue. Randy told me earlier they were working to fix the problem. Looks like they still have a LONG way to go!! From the middle of nowhere in the Pacific NW
I got my Sep edition a few days ago.
I subscribed in July and am still waiting to get it. Anyone know how long it usually takes to kick in?
Must admit they're getting better. Used to come no earlier than mid-month, sometimes as late as the 19-20th.
Got Oct. issue yesterday (10/4). |
I didn't know there was an electronic edition.
Got my Oct issue today.
August??? Still ain't seen it.
September - I received it a few days ago. October - I received it today. Since I received my IF sub through the generosity of another FTr and I don't really know when my subscription started, I don't even know if I was supposed to have received an August issue. |
Just got my August issue 4 Oct 02, but that's par for the course in this part of the U.S. because magazines are often sent by surface shipment.
I understand once we receive the book, there will be a code to access things online (though 1/3 of the subscription will have expired by then). Perhaps the online access code could be sent by e-mail? |
Good News: I got my Sept issue today
(I thought they forgot about me) Bad News: I got my Sept Issue today, and skimmed it right away. I am near Sacramento and usually get mail on time. Is this availiable on-line somewhere ? ------------------ Gumbo Cook |
In New York City, and still no October issue as of today (10/7)...
The one drawback of receiving the issues so late is that a good portion of the news is old news to me, especially after frequenting FT. |
Just got the latest issue yesterday in Boston, MA.
Received my gifted copy of the September issue here in Toronto on Tuesday of last week, the 3rd of October. I thank the FTer who is providing this subscription as part of their "Starquest".
This is one of the problems with INSIDE FLYER and the reason after subscribing for many, many years, I let my subscription lapse. As much as I want(ed) to help Randy's business thrive, this delivery issue -- and instant availability of much of each issue on the web -- made me become a lapsed IFer. Issues consistently arrived more than a month from the cover date, and even when the Colorado Springs office sent me a specially handled, first class issue, these took two weeks to get from Colorado to Edmonton, Alberta where I was living at the time. IF has tried all sorts of delivery methods to get the magazine to us in Canada. They used to use a mailing service which posted the mags from Windsor, Ontario. I noticed this issue which arrived last week came from a Jamaica NY postal outlet. I don't know if it is the US or Canadian post office that delays these copies? All I do know is this is nothing new, and I am not sure it is Randy's fault the problem persists. [This message has been edited by Shareholder (edited 10-08-2002).] |
The TSA is probably searching and wanding each issue by hand! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
I did speak to someone in Customer Service yesterday. They said they recently went to DHL to distribute the issues outside of the US. She felt that most of the delay was in Customs (Canada customs in particular). I don't know if the recent "work to rule" by Canada Customs may affect this also, but it is possible.
MSP got my October IF yesterday the 7th. It is early this month.
------------------ Sorry mama i gots to get all the miles i can Brian |
Gotten my copy of the book just before I left, sept 30th I think, not sure if a magazine came since then, Mailbox kindoff far away to check (but boy..that would be one of a kind milage run, 5000 miles one way just to see if I have a magazine).
Then Canadian Customs has been working to rule for the past eight years because nothing has changed since I first subscribed. The mags are posted through US post individually, why would Customs be involved? Every other US magazine I subscribe to arrives quickly.
I received my October issue today (October 17) by way of Canada Post
I haven't received anything! Signed up last summer.
