Flying Virgins
Just got an offer from Virgin in the US if you fly Upper Class by April (I think) you get a $500 Amex stored value card, enough miles for an coach return trip to UK, plus if you use an Amex card another free ticket. Not valid for existing Freeway members. Sounds like a sweet deal if you can hack Virgin (personally I was not all that impressed with Upper Class, give me BA Club World anyday).
|
thank you for the info - please post individual airline offers under that specific airline - the buzz gets fatter and fatter!
|
BA Club World had a similar offer late last year - September 16 to December 15. They also offered the $500 stored-valued AmEx card, but offered double miles for your trip rather than the free ticket Virgin is offering.
|
I think BA's current free ticket offer is superior to Virgin's anyway.
Over to you Bab's.... MF [This message has been edited by Merry (edited 02-17-99).] |
At Merry's request:
Simply: * register for this promotion online, * then fly British Airways Club World full-fare round-trip transatlantic between February 1 and April 15, 1999. After your trip, you'll receive a free companion ticket for your next British Airways flight - wherever you choose to fly, including any of our 167 worldwide destinations. You can share a memorable journey with any companion you like, from your spouse, to your friend or your business associate. It's up to you. They will travel with you in the same class of service, whether you fly Concorde to London, First to Frankfurt, Club World to Cairo or World Traveller to Warsaw. (from http://www.british-airways.com/companion/, for US Exec Club members) [This message has been edited by baobab (edited 02-17-99).] |
Where are the Cat Police? Most of this should have been on the Virgin and BA threads. I know it's easier to post on The Buzz, but it takes up space, and not all of us are interested in the specifics. As I see it, The Buzz is for general discussion - not specifics.
|
Phil: Rudi has already made the point.
But once a thread has started, I think you might as well carry on, it would only clutter up somewhere else if it was to be restarted elsewhere? MF |
THis is CMDR. CATCOP: Right on PHIL!!!
My friend CATMAN thought the title meant something "R" rated, but upon reading agreed it should be under the Virgin forum. Thank you for the postings, but it would lessen the load on the BUZZ if the topics are on the right forum!!! Thank you!! CATMAN |
This was my first post to the Buzz so thanks for the welcome guys....
The reason for posting here was that the offer was for NON Virgin FF members - so posting to the Virgin group would not have done most people any good right? I did take the time to look through Buzz topics and found a similar number of airline specific topics without any flames. Also, an awfyl lot of inane discussion (now if you want to cut the fat....) as well as a lot of really useful stuff. Bottom line: I thought this was useful to go on the Buzz to reach the right audience. I find this list a great resource and wanted to share info I didn't see posted already. |
SteinerboyCA.. please do not take offense by us. Before you got on board FlyerTalk... the Buzz was a small area that has rapidly taken on a life of its own.
Just a suggestion: What you can do is do a dual posting (I'm going to get e-mail on this one! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif On the buzz say "Please see the Virgin posting for an interesting offer, particularly for non members!" Then post the information on Virgin. Most of us read the Buzz so we would see it and go to Virgin and check it out. On another point though... I don't think some of the stuff we talk about is as you call it "an awfyl lot of inane discussion." SOmetimes some of us go OMNI but stick it out here... we are a friendly and fun bunch who have interests beyond Frequent Flyer miles and sometimes they end up here. Sorry if you were offended. Let me give you a better and warmer welcome to FLyerTalk, and I'm looking forward to your future contributions. CATMAN |
We'll have to start calling Catman the Diplocat!
|
Or, The arrest-o-cat. But the Cat really is very diplocatic.
Welcome aboard SteinerboyCA! |
I do think we need to watch some of the flaming replies. There have been two inappropriate ones in two days to new members, and I still vividly remember the flame I got on my first post. Let's try to be nice to the newbies. Some of the stuff the "oldies" get away with posting would provoke a firestorm if it were from a newbie.
|
Hey, tex, why dont you shuddup!!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
Kidding, of course! I agree that many of us take for granted that everyone knows the complicated self-"policing" rules that have evolved here! Welcome aboard, Steinerboy. We may be mean, but that's only because after being above 30,000 feet for what amounts to over a week a year, the brain cells start to decay! Stick around and you'll end up addicted like the rest of us... |
I'm with Matt, and, Steinerboy, I apologize if I offended. I'm also relatively new, and I'm still learning the rules. One unwritten one that I've learned quickly is that, even though CATMAN is the CatPolice, Rudi rules. Something I need to start doing that I haven't done in the past is check number of posts before making any kind of adverse comment. I truly didn't realize that you were new. I should have, and, again, I apologize. I would otherwise have made my comment a lot less blunt. Does that mean sharper? I wouldn't have done that, either. I probably would have kept my keyboard shut.
