(yes, I know it's the wrong forum, but this sentiment belongs anywhere!)
Just a quick Happy New Year to all who are celebrating today. Let's hope for renewed sense of peace.
To anyone in this forum I have offended through words, please accept my sincere appology. I know that it easy to get caught up in "flaming" here, and I want to move on with a clean slate.
Take care all,
Zach

Zach: yes peace belongs everywhere and I won't move this to another forum (.....though you know it is in the wrong forum only because it is not about miles and points-HA!).
For you and others on FlyerTalk, a most joyous Happy New Year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
May you be granted every wish
May you always have gefilte fish.
May you always stay safe from winds and hails
May you always shop at Bloomingdale's.
May you have understanding of every detail
May you never, ever, have to pay retail.
May you regard every man as your brother
May you always remember to call your mother.
You have to send this message to two other friends right away, or you
will feel guilty forever! Shalom

I'm losing the "faith" I once had in the rules being dutifully applied towards all, their posts, and relevance in the forum posted.
Some posts seem to be more "closable" than others. Animal Farm anyone?

I agree. Some misposted posts receive better treatment than others...this one, evidently, due to religion.

For the two of you, my advice is to read the first reply to this message, where the owner of this website kindly explains why he wishes to allow this exception. Given the current situation in the Middle East, a desire for peace may be one of the nobler sentiments to express...
Also, news flash--this isn't a democracy and you have no inherent right to being treated fairly, consistently, or anything such thing by the owners of this website. If you don't like it, just leave! I assure you there are much more intrusive and annoying moderators on the web.

I agree the thread has nothing whatever to do with Miles Buzz. The thread starter knew that and said so. Randy was happy to post to it and not move it, and therefore the thread stays and he clearly has absolute right to do so if he chooses.
I am sitting on a fence a long way away, but wonder about the responses if this Wednesday there was an Muslim Holy Festival taking place and some devout Muslim FT'er posted just such a thread, also with the thread title in Arabic, wishing everyone a 'renewed sense of peace' etc. Would THAT thread be just as acceptable? I do NOT think so - it would go right into OMNI, and there is the rub.
And Muslim aside, as that is the obvious example - would a thread from an devout Buddhist or Hindu etc be OK here at any time with the thread heading in a foreign language? Nope. As that is why the OMNI Forum was created.
And I would hold the same opinion if there were threads here saying "Merry Christmas everyone" or "Happy Fathers Day everyone" or "Happy Kwanzaa to all" or "Happy Lenin's Birthday" etc. Well meaning and warm and fuzzy as they might or might not be, this is surely NOT the Forum for them?

Rabbi,
In case you think that this was an afterthought, I did remember on the day over at BA Forum as I noticed that you had popped a post in there.
To you all, I really think that it matters not one iota where this was posted, it is the spirit inwhich it was intended that is of consequence.
Nearly a year ago our world changed forever. Nothing will ever be the same again, one of our number died that day. For my part, I take every kind wish for our future, and pray daily for peace to be with everyone. If this is good enough for the Board Meister, it is good enough for me.
