It is a four part question from 2000 year old literature. I think it could shed light in this situation as well: 1) Who is wise? Those who learn from others. 2) Who is strong? Those who can control themselves. 3) Who is rich? Those who are content with what they have. 4) Who is honored? Those who honor others. --------------------------------------------------------------- [This message has been edited by ozstamps (edited 09-09-2002).] |
Thanks for all the wishes, folks! I've been thinking of offering FF miles to congregants each time they enter the shul. I'd bet they would be here in droves!
Take care. |
ozstamps - your specualtion is just that, and then you are angry about your speculation. Wait until it happens. Perhaps you don't mean to sound prejudiced, but it seems you are implying that Jews are getting special treatment and that no one else would. Why did good wishes have to get turned into something negative? Unnecessary. Let's allow the occasional good wishes without miles for every religion and just let it be. Happy New Year, Happy Valentine's Day, Happy Easter, Happy Passover, Happy Ramadan, Happy July 4th, Happy Labor Day, Happy Mother's Day, Happy Father's Day, Happy Secretary's Day, Happy Grandparents Day, Happy Chanuka, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanza, Happy Columbus Day. Let's just get it over with once and for all. Please add any holidays left out. No intent to offend anyone. We are of one world. Let's hope for Peace.

dgordon, not at all - have no idea why you say that. Two other posters before mine stated the thread did not appear to belong here. Do you agree? I also concurred that appeared to be correct in usual times. There were eight threads already locked on page 1 here for being wrongly placed when I made the post.
As it happens neither you nor I make or enforce the moderation rules so it is all moot anyway. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif And frankly I am secretly kind of glad YOU do not Moderate here if you are happy to see in 'Miles Buzz' the following threads: Let's allow the occasional good wishes without miles for every religion and just let it be. Happy New Year, Happy Valentine's Day, Happy Easter, Happy Passover, Happy Ramadan, Happy July 4th, Happy Labor Day, Happy Mother's Day, Happy Father's Day, Happy Secretary's Day, Happy Grandparents Day, Happy Chanuka, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanza, Happy Columbus Day. MilesBuzz - Discussion of the latest frequent flyer program buzz ... OMNI - A discussion of all things NOT related to miles, points, travel, dining or airports. OMNI is a vibrant dialog of perspectives on world events, politics, religion and more. It is more importantly fascinating reading for anyone and provides quite a bit of humor and entertainment. We have chosen not to stifle opinions and as such this forum is unmoderated. ------------------ ~ Glen ~ Calling all United 1K Members - please join .. www.1Kflyers.com [This message has been edited by ozstamps (edited 09-09-2002).] |
Usually these threads have traditionally been posted in Community.
But over the years, I don't recall any 'holiday greeting' thread moved or shut down. I guess our host, Randy Petersen, seems to think that this post is OK. So shame on you for biting the hand that feeds us. Now as for the negative statements on this post...well, those comments, and others like them belong in Omni. Dan |
ozstamps - I had that impression as you conveyed that there wouldn't be tolerance for other good wishes from other groups. What is implied with that. That an exception was being made here. That's where it came from. I wouldn't WANT to be a moderator.
Many of us do not visit OMNI. And maybe many of you do not understand that apology for offending anyone comes from the significance of these holidays. Why might you post it where many people would not read it. I still do not get how this turned into an "issue." ------------------ Ms.DtG |
In case you might have missed this in zrs70 original post "Let's hope for renewed sense of peace. To anyone in this forum I have offended through words, please accept my sincere appology. I know that it easy to get caught up in "flaming" here, and I want to move on with a clean slate." Would any of you have understood his apology to those posting in MilesBuzz! if it had been posted in OMNI or Community? Probably not.
Anyway, a simple judgement call for which I won't apologize. I'll accept the criticism of my judgement call on this post from brucemcal and LLZ, but if only members would have continued to reply to the topic of the post we would not have a problem. Now back to the topics that brought you all here in the beginning - Frequent flyer programs. |
